My arms are really weak and I'd really like to tone them up for the summer. Thing is I need to start with something that I can actually do because I am, as I said, pathetically weak. Any ideas?

Carry weight helps to strengthen your muscles. However since you are not building BIG muscle mass, it is best that you use weights that you can do many times. If you carry a 5kg dumb bell and you can only do 10 times, it is too heavy. Carry light weight and do many times tone up your muscle while carrying heavier weights will make your arms bigger.

yes. do the following workout,

1A, pushups 10 reps
1b pullups 10 reps

repeat this thrice.
as you get stronger, add five more reps.

guaranteed.

Start doing bicep curls and stuff with cans of beans and bags of rice, whatever you can lift. Then go eat that beans and rice and get big!

upper body work out aerobics, try finding free videos on you tube, or buy cheap second hand videos on e-bay or second hand shops. push ups may also help.

armwrestling/ works hands wrist and forearms shoulder and back.
and it is fun
