just wondered if any other readers out there have suffered with vomit phobia/emetophobia? Have any of you been cured and if so how?

Hi there, yes I am 28 and have suffered with this all my life. I have more of a fear of other people being sick than myself. I would love to be cured as it is the one thing that really scares me and has stopped me doing so much in my life (eg, going out and socialising because people might drink too much and be sick or travelling/going on holiday because of people getting travel sickness or food poisoning). I even worry about whether I should have children or not because I don't know that I'd be able to cope if they were unwell and needed me.

I am scared to get help because I don't want to have to watch videos of it as a way of getting over the problem. I just hope that if I do ever have children, a natural motherly instinct will help me overcome the fear.

I am petrified of being sick I cry and pee myself. If I see someone else being sick I run as it makes me start heaving loads of times when i have felt nausea I have taken a sleeping tablet and went asleep until the feeling goes away I never thought of it as a phobia but it could be.

Yes.

I learned to swim in order to cure it. It was the fear of not being able to breathe that scared me.

Now, with swimming, I realize I can go a long time without air.
