I feel that I have to do as much as I can in my life so that I at least leave some kind of memory of myself behind. As for death itself, you feel what it was like from when before you were born: Blessed Oblivion, nothing will ever worry, nor trouble me again. Though yes I'll miss things from this world, everything has to come to an end sometime...there is no such thing as an eternity.

I can't say that I am looking forward to death, but I am not scared of it. It is because there is so much that I want to do and see in my life, I just don't want it to end until I do it all. In the meantime, I make the most of what I have and what I can do. If I were to die tomorrow, well I've had a pretty good life.
Everyone dies. It is a fact of life, so I have accepted that it will happen at some point.

specific, i've got had a lot of studies like this, the place I basically felt a 2d of awe with regard to the universe, or had another deep philosophical thought. and that i felt that non violent feeling afterwards. Theism is not often the only thank you to have such studies. talking as an atheist, i won't be able to assert that I proportion the knee-jerk reaction of maximum different atheists who seem to think of that a subjective adventure won't be able to be "valid". jogs my memory of a quote from George Carlin (an fantastically open atheist) that I heard in an NPR interview: "a while in the past I found out with the aid of some analyzing that i will’t bear in mind now that, if it’s genuine that we’re all from the middle of a super call, each and every thing atom in each and each people from the middle of a super call, then we’re all from the comparable ingredient, or perhaps a coke device or a cigarette butt on the line in Buffalo are produced from atoms that got here from a super call. They’ve all been recycled thousands of circumstances as have you ever and that i. So, if that's genuine, and that i'm everywhere in the universe, in an prolonged experience, and for this reason, it’s in effortless terms me out here, so what's there to be petrified of? what's there that needs solace-in seek of? no longer something. There’s no longer something to be petrified of, because of the fact it’s all us. So, I basically have that as a backdrop, and that i don’t ought to circulate to it or think of of it consciously. I’ve sort of primary the thought I’m completely risk-free and that existence, nature, have waves and troughs, united statesand downs, left and right, black and white, evening and day, fall and wintry climate, constructive and detrimental. each and every thing has an opposite. If I extremely have a undesirable time, I’ll have a sturdy time coming. If it’s a sturdy time, I’m arranged to have a undesirable time to sort of pay for it. So, no longer something extremely upsets me."

I am not really an Atheist.I am a Spiritualist with very Atheistic opinions.I think most Atheists just accept that death is part of life. Why fear the inevitable?Just live your life as best you can.I think that is pretty much the Atheist way. What goes after death is only a guess for me.For them, they doubt anything goes beyond death and even if there is anything they seriously doubt that any religion has accurately describe it.After all, life after death is a man made and man written ideology that was created to calm the fears of men.

Death is quite an acceptable part of life in my opinion. Religion tends to sheild people from the truth (No!!!)
People seem to be able to handle the harsh reality of death much better when its wrapped up in a make believe story like ... "Its OK, when you die, you live for ever in eternal life"
mmm... only the fables and myth of religion could convince you that you might out live your own death?? - illogical - yes, totally.. religion is santa claus for mindless grown ups...
Anyway "Atheists, how do you feel? " - "I feel good" - knowing i get one go at life here on earth... (no childish promises of an "afterlife" thank you) and i am not going to waste it "praying" to some imaginary sky daddy.. and as for jesus... oh please... "Zeus" anyone? :-)
Have a nice day :-)
BTW Adia (question asker) those who are cristian / muslim are in fact atheists of ALL the other gods and prophets that have ever been invented by man kind ... a world FULL of atheists - cool ! at last some common sense is prevailing.

Being dead I'm not that worried about, more the actual process of getting there. Something tidy and painless would be preferred. Euthanasia rather than a pronged painful end, certainly.
If one is allowed to entertain a fantasy, and I know no law against it, it will amuse me to imagine Death as a cute goth chic who will take my hand and say "Now's when you get to find out."
(Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, especially "The Sound of Her Wings") I have not the slightest belief that it's true, but it's a wonderful tale.

People have been dying as long as they have been living, and long before any religious beliefs. Whatever has happened to them will happen to us all. It is part of nature. Everything that lives dies. Do you really think your beliefs can change what happens to you? I have no worries about death, sin, heaven or hell. I live my life as free as possible and hope for others to do the same. You do not have to be trapped by your beliefs. You can be free.

I feel that I will have had a good life and nothing else will matter to me one way or the other after my death. It will be the entire end of existence for me. So whatever happens after my death will no longer matter to me.

Pretty relaxed daresay. Death is natural, without it there'd be no Life either. Of course, I hope my life will last as long as possible as I'd love to see my grandchildren; yet, you never know what waits you around the corner:(....I believe that there's nothing after Death, and love my life, that's it.

if they are looking forward to seeing a god then they really aren't atheists now are they, other wise they would be hoping to see god. or have you forgotten what atheist means?
besides why would they try working to let their name live on past their deaths, which would kinda let them live on a bit longer.
heres a question what are you going to do if you die and there is no god to meet you are you going to disappointed?
