Ages ago when I got my first cdr drive it came with software that could convert a cdr into a cdrw, can't remember the name for the life of me. What burning program can do that now?

Nah this was a real deal, it ate up like 80 megs of space to convert it.

Maybe i'm remembering part of the process wrong. I ran this program, one of the options was to convert the CDR to CDRW(maybe I'm wrong), which I could then record stuff from my computer on, take it to my friends computer, add and remove things like a CDRW from his computer. He did the same with his drive after I gave him the software. Maybe it wasn't really a cdrw but it sure acted like one on every cdrw drive I took it to.

Hi,

The difference between CD-R and CD-RW is the R=READ, and the RW=Read/Write. Its actually the disk that is different, not your data. So to convert a CD-R to a CD-RW, you need to copy the disk using a program like Nero and then burn the copy to a CD-RW. But any program will work, you just basically need to copy the disk and burn it to a CD-RW.

On the Mac side, you can do it with the built in software called Disk Utility or use a program like Toast, which is like Nero on the PC.

BTW, a copy of Nero was included with my burner, it or another program for this usually comes with CD/DVD burners.

to my knowledge, you cannot physically convert a CDR to a CDRW disc. You would have to copy the CDR disc onto a CDRW disc...

There is no software that converts a CD-R into a CD-RW, that is hardware. A CD-R disk is made from different material then a CD-RW and a CD-R drive has different components then a CD-RW drive.
