My cat has been throwing up alot. It started yesterday, and has gotten worse tonight. He only eats dry food, and it's *not* any of that which has been recalled, because it's dry. Besides that, I've had these kibbles longer than the recall. He's strictly an indoor kitty, and has no fleas. He does have tremendous bad breath though. Could a bad tooth perhaps cause him to throw up everything? All night? I can't afford to take him to a vet right now!--I'm unemployed! What should I do?

Is the vomit looks a little bit gnarly like matted? If so then this could be hair balls, Cats can not digest their own fur, and needs hair ball remedy which is really affordable at the local store such as VONS or Safeway, much cheaper than the pet store.

If the vomit is of a different color, like the color of the food, he could be eating too much, also it could be just about anything else that is going on with your cat.

I do not know if you have Pet assistant in your area or not, there are programs that can help you foot the bill for the Vet, and there are Vets that are willing to allow you make small monthly payments as well.,

Being that your currently unemployed perhaps you could offer to trade any form of service that you have experience in, such as computer knowledge, data entry and so on in exchanged for Vet Care for your kitty.

I hope your kitty will start feeling better soon

The bad breath and the constant vomiting are very worrisome.
A bad tooth could be the cause, or God forbid it could be something much worse.

Kitty really needs to be seen by a Vet ASAP.

Call your Vet and explain just how sick your cat is.
Most good Vets will not refuse to treat a sick cat, they should set up payment arrangements for you.

If all else fails call your local human society or ASPCA, sometimes they offer no or low cost Vet care.

Good luck, I hope kitty feels better soon

Take him to the vet ASAP. Bad or strange smelling breath and vomiting constantly may be a sign of kidney or renal issues. Maybe it is as you say - an infected tooth and he swalloed much bacteria. Maybe he has not been drinking enough water on a diet purely of dry cat food? This could cause renal failure - one of the signs is very bad breath or ammonai smelling breth.
Give him fresh water - adminsiter using an oral syringe or even a medicine dropper. Give him 2 tspoons every half hour to flush out any toxins and to rehydrate him (he wil lose a lot of water through vomiting). If he is stll no better by the morning, you really need to take him to the vet. Borrow money, do what you can becuase the cat needs medical attention.

You really should take him to the vet. Really, really, really.

These are symptoms my cat had before I had to put him down. Going to the vet helped in that we were able to identify the disease (problems with his immune system) and help him to live a few months longer and much more comfortably.

Moreover, it could easily be something very treatable. In not taking him to a vet you could be turning something easily cured into something fatal.

I really do understand that you are not in a position to pay for a vet but maybe you could find ways to cut your budget in order to get him the help he very much needs.

Call around to the different vets in your area. Talk to them honestly about your cat and your financial status. I'm sure you can find someone who will be willing to work with a payment plan you can live with and you may even luck out and find someone who will scale down their rates to something you can more comfortably afford. The vast majority of vets are n the business because they care so much about the well being of animals. It's different than doctors.

Cats do vomit up hairballs and it is perfectly healthy for them to do so but not every week, let alone every day. Frequent vomiting is a huge concern in cats.

Please, don't sacrifice his health.

Your cat is sick and really needs to go to a vet. Call around and ask local vets if they take payment plans or if they know of any place that might help you to pay for medical treatment for your cat. If you do not seek medical treatment for your cat, he could die from dehydration, plus whatever is making him sick. You sound like you really love your cat, so you owe it to him to do everything in your power to help him. He is depending on you. He is your responsability and vet care is something a pet owner MUST plan for and consider before ever getting a pet. Because if they don't, situations like this happen. I hope you find the help you need. In the meantime, encourage your cat to drink water slowly. Even drip it into his mouth with a syrange, if you have to. But please call a vet ASAP. Good luck.

My cat just had to have a tooth taken out yesterday because it was infected. She did not throw up....I noticed that one side of her mouth looked swollen and she also began pawing at her mouth. Maybe you can make payment arrangements with your vet. Some vets have lower prices on office visits than others.....see if the vet can tell you anything from just a visit - its a start. I hope your kitty is well soon.

I'm sorry but the vet is your only solution. I don't know what is wrong, but it sounds like it could be serious. A bad tooth is also serious, because often it is an indication of kidney problems. Also check if he pees properly. If he isn't, he needs to go to the vet immediately, or he dies.

I wish I could offer a home cure, but the really bad breath combined with the vomiting most likely means you need to try to find a way to take him to the vet. This link has ideas for ways to get vet care for your pet if you're having trouble affoding it:

I hope you can get him to the vet and that he gets better.

Call the RSPCA's 24-hour national advice line on 0870 55 55 999.

CALL now!
Your kitty may be in an emergency situation. Get help. I think RSPCA won't make you pay if it is a matter of life or death for an animal.

I hope your kity gets well soon :-)
