well the cause of dandruff or dry scalp is the lack of moisture. however, most people who sweat in their scalp has it alot worst because as we know sweat is water and salt. salt drys or takes away moisture. Ask him if he drinks alot of water. yes, water. if no or not alot. drink some. Drinking water helps solve your problem because dandruff is a way of the body saying i need moisture in me. If there's something wrong with the body on the inside it shows the effects on the outside. so drink some water.slow remedy (takes a week or so depending on how bad the problem is)but works really well and if you continue to drink water( about 8 glasses) you will permanently get rid of dry scalp. But if you want a quick, non permanent thing try tea tree oil or organics itch relief by africa's best found in walmart hair section. apply daily. let me know how that works out. good luck ;-)

Wow, if you used grease and it's still flaky he really must have dry scalp.
Try Selsun Blue and you can also use Scalpacin- it goes right on the scalp. If he's scratched, then it might burn a little at first, but his head will feel so much better!
If these don't work, then have him see a doctor or dermatologist- they can prescribe special shampoos and meds that will take care of it.

Though the method is messy, it has worked wonders.
Heat some oil and rub it on to every part of ur scalp using cotton swabs. Leave it for 10 mins.
Mix lime juice with a beaten egg and apply in the same way. Leave it 4 at least 15 mins.
Take a refreshing bath with shampoo.
