13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Charity is helping your friend/foe without expecting anything in return. It can mean food, money or a place to live.

Charity is giving without strings attached.

It also means love. If you don't know how to love, then you really don't have the spirit.

Every word you SPEAK throughout the day is a prayer.

I'm not sure what you mean, but here go my thoughts:
God gives everyone gifts of the Spirit at birth, which come to fruition when one accepts Jesus. These gifts are given to help solidify the Church (that is, the body of born-again believers, not church goers). But the point of the gifts is to use them in love (charity), not selfishly or for personal edification. They are to be used for the edification of the Church Body. "That which is perfect" is a subject of some debate, but I think it refers to the Kingdom, i.e. the world after Armageddon and God establishing His reign on the new earth. When this happens, there will be no more need for the Spiritual gifts, because He will live among us, as He did with Adam before the Fall. One thing you left out is "Now we see but in a mirror dimly; then we will know fully, even as we are fully known." Verse 11 simply says grow in your belief. Early Christians often fall away because they fail to grow in Christ. Study to show yourself approved; be diligent and steadfast; do not forsake the fellowship of the brethren. All things grow, including Christians.

If you will re-read the passage and substitute the word Love for Charity you will get a better understanding of the passage.

To me it sums up kinda like this

Jesus gave us two Commandments that if observed will cause us to keep all of the original ten.

1. We are to love God with all of our being, heart, mind and soul.

2. We are to love others as we love ourselves.

Jesus is Love... Without love we are nothing!

Basically it means, be the grown man in the fullness of Christ as Christ was full humanity and fully divine. Be A Man ! in short. When you are wrong say sorry. When praise is due, give praise. When thanks is due, give thanks. Dont be like the hypocrites and critics that do nothing but grumble mumble. Basically Love as God is Love. Exude Love from your being and not your mind and have the guts to Love. Becasue if you dont, even you seem very spiritual you are discredited of no value. So it means pray in tongues without ceasing, continuously in the spirit as we are one in Him. And if we maintain that meditative state we are in connect with him, we are praying. As we are spirtual, and speak in unknown tongues, even tongues of angels, OHHH what joy to be able to speak in the heavenly language !! At the same time exude Love from the being.

God is love, and another word for love is charity.

If we maintain charity in our soul, we are of God, and will very likely be worth saving, no matter how many sins we've committed.

Without charity, all is lost.

Many of us never made these connections, so fail to understand the utter simplicity of God's plan for our salvation.

It merely speaks about the importance of love and how without it works don't mean a thing. It gives perhaps the best definition of love that you will ever find. Especially verse 4.

It's a checker. Something that we can learn about our real intentions, understand our passions, bring to ourselves the wisdom that God has for us in what we set ourselves up for, and knowing that love is not all fun. It's rather difficult at times. I refer to the longsuffering.

You know, I don't think that we could be perfect in that either, at least not yet.

Gods LOVE(agape) is the theme of a Christians life No matter what is done--if it is not done in the Agape attitude it is of naught. Agape is the reason for preaching-teaching-prophesy. God is love that's why it is difficult to hate someone. Hate is not of God--If a man says he hates his brother--that may be his religion--but it is not of God.
