None of the high end foods are affected as they do not use wheat in their foods, plus they have much more stringent testing of ingredients. If you look at historical petfood recalls they have all been from mid to low quality petfoods makers

Canidae has stated right on their website state that none of their foods are produced at the menufoods facility
http://www.canidae.com

NaturaPets does state not of their foods contain wheat gluten

Nature's Variety not involved

Eagle Pack tests all ingredients before producing

Wellness
not affected

I beleive Purina has its own processing plant that's why none of its cat food line appears on the list of recalled foods. Purina makes Friskies, Fancy Feast, Purina One, and others. Some cat food lines that I know do not use Menufoods are Whiskas; Natural Balance; Life's Abundance; Blue Buffalo.

There are more, but this is all that comes readily to mind right now... been researching myself!

So far fancy feast is one that is not on re call. However the vet says that it is more wide spread than we know and more will come out. He says no matter what brand, don't buy any with gravy in it. Purina just added one on today to be recalled I heard on the news, I think it was called purina care. I am scared too!!! Especially how they are trying to find the toxins in the amimals foods, they are testing it on ladratory cats and dogs and feeding it to them to see if they get sick and die or not! That is how they came up with that figure, 1 out of every 6 die from eating it. I heard this on CSNBC news last night. How awful! There was one person who answered you as to say mighty dog and some others, wrong, they are recalled too. I will say that menufoods is not listed on the cans!!!!!! It is just a company that they get one ingredient from.

Oh there is lots really, you wouldn't think with the extensive list but MOST of their foods were sold in grocery stores or Walmart, and not to sound snotty (as we have used them too) but they are "the cheaper" brands. If you go to a pet store(it may cost a little more but *wink* what can we do? I'm sure most of them will have it all sorted out and have something that our kitty or doggie will LOVE! thats what we did yesterday and tonight everybody was very happy with their new foods, thank goodness we didn't have any of the tainted stuff. I really hope you didn't as well.
Hope this helps

Check out Wellness, Wysong, Canidae, Natural Balance, Royal Canin. I don't think any of these are made by the company that is having all the problems. Check on the back of the cans and see who makes it or go to the web site and check the list of foods that they do make and just don't buy those. But I think that the above list would be OK. They are made by independent companies.

Friskies cat food in can and Alpo dog food in can.

I have not seen these two brands on the list and I have triple check the list to make sure.

Another way is to moisten the dry food if you still are not trusting any canned food.

It has been a challenge for sure at trying to feed one of my cats dry cat food, she is a senior cat and has not much teeth.

My kittens get only Wellness brand food.

The requirements for pet food are disturbing compared to human food and Wellness uses only human grade food. Chicken by-products, for example, in human grade food have to be from healthy chickens. In pet food those "by-products" can be a cancerous growth or include meat from animals that died from mad cow (which does affect cats).

They have nothing to do with Menu or Menu's suppliers.

Good for you. Here's a list of the very best foods out there. All are either grainless or nearly grainless.

I personally feed Natural Balance Venison & Green Pea.
