I had a cat get out of the house on me once and she was gone for a week and then all of a sudden reappeared. I guess just keep an eye out for your cat and hope that he comes back. They have pretty good instincts and do seem to be able to find there way back home.
You haven't moved recently have you? If you have, maybe go back to your old neighborhood and see if kitty is hanging around there.
I hope your cat comes back. Maybe think about keeping it inside if he does come back home.

Heidi_11 had some great tips - try all of those suggestions.
I would also add, though: Go to your local Animal Control (the pound) IN PERSON and ask to see ALL of the animals there, even the surrendered pets (sometimes cruel people will trap cats and take them to the pound for disposal, claiming they own them). Also ask to see the ones in quarantine and the ones being seen by the vet (if they have a vet on staff). Be sure to wash up thoroughly afterward. Pounds are often understaffed and the staff is overworked, so don't risk having your cat slip through the cracks - go see for yourself in person to make sure your cat isn't there. Ask how long they hold animals before putting them up for adoption or euthanizing them, and be sure to visit more frequently than that.
It's a good idea to visit any other shelters in person, too, just to be safe.

You should have been worried three days ago. There are some things you need to do immediatley. First, call all of your local animal shelters, all the vets in your area and your local Animal Control. Ask them to fill out a lost pet report. Also, make flyers, preferably with your cat's picture on it, and post them everywhere. And go door to door with the flyers, asking everyone in your area about your cat. And call the shelter every day! Also, call Animal Control frequently, as well. Don't give up! You kitty is out there somewhere, probably scared and lonely, so keep at it! And when she comes home, please have her micro-chipped by your vet. The chances of a lost pet being reunited with there owner greatly increases when the animal has been microchipped. And please, please get your cat spayed or neutered, if youhave not done so already. Not only is it the responsable thing to do, cats are less likely to wander when they don't have that urge to find another kitty in the mood. Good luck!

I would call all the local animal shelters, and it can't hurt to ask neighbors or put up a few signs in case someone found your cat and doesn't konw where their house is. Cats can live on their own outside, but also tend to hide if they're having babies or sick.. doesnt mean yours is, he coudl just be so cute a neighbor took him in temporarily, or he could be having a ball out there. I used to use open cans of tuna to find cats that werent ready to come home yet.

That depends if it is a Tom Cat that has never been neuter then if that is the case, then he is out looking for female cats in heat, as well as fighting with other un-neuter male cats.
If your cat has been neuter/spayed, then yes I think it wouldn't hurt to start looking for him or her, make sure you bring a picture of your cat and start asking around, also put up flyer's and run a ad for your cat.
I am worry wart each time one of my pets comes up missing more than just one day.

I agree with the last poster. Animal shelters only keep animals for a short while so I'd check ASAP! Please don't lose any time. Cats are safer indoors and are not as prone to disease, fleas and ticks, attack by other animals, cars, poisons, and the pound. Cats are smart, it might show up but I'd really check with the shelter just in case. And put up an add in your paper and keep an eye out in your neighborhood, or wherever it was last seen.

Your cat should have never been let out in the first place and yes, you should be worring. Call the local shelters and place a lost cat add in the news paper and post up some signs in your neighborhood!

I'd be worried after four hours, but my cat never goes outside.
Is yours used to being out? How long has it been gone in the past? I'd start asking neighbors if they've seen it. Post pictures, offer a reward.
