I've heard of really good results from using Proactive, but what is really important is to have a definite cleansing regimen. Whats good to do is to clean your face twice daily (usually morning and night) using an over the counter (bought at either a drugstore or grocery store) acne cleanser. There are alot of different brands and different types of acne cleansers that are sold based on what type of skin type (oily, dry, or combination) you have. Most acne cleansers contain either Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid and that helps to attack the bacteria that is causing your acne. Secondly, beside using a daily cleanser there are also topical creams that you can apply to your face after cleansing it. Thirdly, there are also "homemade" treatments like using a spot of regular toothpaste applied to a pimple. Homemade recipes can be found on the Spa Index site, under the spa recipes section. For more in depth information on the causes and different treatments for acne go to the website http://www.acnemedicine.com/. Good luck.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I would start by remembering to cleanse your face every morning and before bed. Try using a mild scrub to exfoliating once a day. Then follow that with a clay mask. Then use a mild alcohol free toner. Apply an oil free moisturizer afterward. You will start to see results.

Also, keep your hands clean. Try not to touch your face because the bacteria on your hands will spread and keep you breaking out. If you must squeeze any pimples, do it with a clean q-tip until the blood runs clear. Then cleanse the area so the bacteria from inside the pimple does not spread.

Andrew, the first step is to identify which type of acne you have. There are so many different types and once you figure out what type you have, you'll be able to select the best product or technique. Do a little research and even surf some of the womens sites, they tend to have the better information on this topic. Best of luck my friend.

the following 2 testimonials can be seen at http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acne.ht...
Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!

you can get it at the health food store, or in some super marktet health food sections. i use bragg vinegar..
good luck
Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

to drink it, put it in honey and water, or apple juice--tastes like cider..cost is 5 dollars a qt at the healthfood store

Ok, I only use stuff with Benzoyl Peroxide NOT Salicylic Acid cuz it makes me skin almost burn and it gets dry and hurts SO bad.. but I have sensitive skin! Neutrogena Advance Solutions worked wonders.. My skin was SO messed up from the time I was about 13 til I started using it... at 19! So I love it! I will tell you.. SOMETIMES going to the dr is good but be careful.. my sister went and they messed her skin up BIG time! So be careful and if store bought products dont work look for a good trusted doctor

a relatively inexpensive product you can try is Skintactix. I've been using it for my adult acne (PITA) and it's the only thing that's worked for me. Proactive just made it worse.

Alot of reading I've done has stated that benzoil peroxide actually causes MORE damage than it helps with. And I know from personal experience that any product I use with benzoil peroxide makes my face HURT and actually makes it look worse.

Good luck to you!

The most effective prescription medicine are the combination of: a topical retinoid such as tretinoin gel (brand name Retin-A Micro, which comes in two strengths), and the topical antibiotic clindamycin phosphate lotion.

In addition to these two prescriptions, mild face wash and lotion (such as Cetaphil) are helpful.
