it seems like everytime i try to get closer to a girl...something gets in the way...whether its the girl already having a bf or by her just not being interested...I know i can be shy but i try my best to open up but it just doesn't seem to work out. I ask a girl out on a date and there have been many that simply dont follow up with a phone call for me to go pick them up even after I try calling them a couple of times. what am I doing wrong?

You need to do the follow up yourself if you want to get the girl. Always make the first move as the girls would be expecting you to do so.
