I don't celebrate Christmas, nor do I put up trees with decorations. The reason I don't is because of where it originated from. I want to please God and I know in the bible what he said about Pagan rituals. God has not changed.
I had someone the other day tell me that any holiday honoring Jesus, (Christmas and Easter) can't be bad. Well is Christmas really honoring Jesus? People get together and exchange gifts, but I see that having nothing to do with Jesus. Christmas is all about making money, and trying to make sure your kids have more than the Jones'.
Easter has really nothing to do with Jesus either. I mean eggs, candy and rabbits. Besides, Jesus said to commemorate his DEATH. His death is what he done for us. He didn't say celebrate the day of my resurrection, but he did say to remember his death. Many people celebrate his resurrection, but think nothing of his death. It seems things have just got twisted around a bit.

I live alone and yes I have a medium sized artifcial tree decorated and colored lights in my sliding glass door window and teddy bear lights on the tree. I also have a little nativity set and a nativity figurine and a few Christmas decorations like a white Santa, an Advent calendar, a teddy bear door wreath and some little porcelain teddy bears in costumes. But getting back to Christmas trees I think it's tradition yes.

The idea of a Christmas Tree began in Germany almost 1,000 years ago. St Boniface, who converted the German people to Christianity, was said to have come across a group of pagans worshipping an oak tree. In anger, St Boniface is said to have cut down the oak tree and to his amazement a young fir tree sprung up from the roots of the oak tree. St Boniface took this as a sign of the Christian faith.

Has Christmas Lost Christ?
http://www.watchtower.org/e/19981215/article_01.htm
"I have never been able to reconcile myself to the gaieties of the Christmas season. They have appeared to me to be so inconsistent with the life and teaching of Jesus."--Mohandas K. Gandhi.
The moneys made just from selling Christmas decorations yearly is staggering, & going up! Not only trees are lit up, but entire houses are glowing throughout their eves, windows, & roof peaks. One US man recently even died from a fall while restringing his house, after having sent his wife to buy more light-strings! It seems some people want to out-do other decorators, at all costs. ):

>>does anyone NOT have a tree at Christmas? Why or why not?<<
In twenty years of marriage, we've had a tree ONCE. Since we don't have any living children, but we do have pets (who managed to knock down the tree that ONE year), it seems more trouble than it is worth.

That is not what I celebrate christmas for though. I celebrate Christmas cause it was the day that the lord was born. I just put the tree and lights cause it looks colorful and nice.

I'm an atheist, and I know it isn't directed at me, but I always have a christmas tree. I don't celebrate Christ, but I celebrate St. Nicholas and all he did for poor the poor children where he lived.

To tree or not to tree. That is your question? If such a practise offends your faith don't do it. Other than that it is for most of us just a nice decoration. If you fell inclined to fall down and worship it or pray to it then I again suggest this probably isn't for you. But if it doesn't offend your conscience then I bet my tree is nicer than yours.
