Like Sanatana Dharma (widely known as Hinduism today) which is a way of life

Truth and Non violence are just paths (so as u say means) to some beautiful journeys of our lives. We can choose this path to reach our destiny

Mahatma gandhi has proved that it is more than a means, it is an end. It got india independence, which is a big achievement, considering that the british were very strong at the time. His principle are very much valid even today, when we have mad wars, terrorism, death, human rights violation even by advanced countries like USA etc. Maybe these problem can only be solved by his principles.

The religious principles like truth, nonviolence etc... are not the end in themselves. They are the means to achieve the ultimate truth and absolute spiritual truth, known variously as, Brahman, Paramatma, Bhagavan, Allah, Krishna, Jehova, God etc...

These are the means to be practised by everybody for meaningful and peaceful life. It will be better, if the human race understand these principles at the earliest, to survive itself.

Definitely, they are a means if you want to achieve some noble ends. Also, they are means if you want lead a peaceful, joyful and contented life.

If you feel it is difficult to achieve them, achieving them itself could be an end!!

if you love truth and non-violence only as a means, then you do not really love truth and non-violence at all. they are ends of themselves or else have no spiritual worth.
