Most people don't realize that marijuana addiction is exactly similar to food addiction. The same appetite receptors in the brain and elsewhere in the body are triggered by THC. When I did too much marijuana, I came off it by losing my sources, I really couldn't find any! Perhaps I was just too disinterested to continue. But it's not like retiring any other type of drug addiction, it's really much easier, by comparison, because there is no physical impact to quiting, just a craving, exactly similar to food cravings.
If you want a method to taper down and not go "cold turkey", try "going hungry" for up to 8 hours at a time (the same time amount of time you are asleep) to start. Then make "going hungry" a habit, every day go without smoking the same hours. Next, segregate your smoking into small periods of time to minimize impact the drug has on your lifestyle. That way you won't feel deprived, but you may derive pleasure for how well you can control your craving. Eat lots of meat, fish and fresh vegetables, so you will feel "tip-top".
Once you realize it is just something you enjoy and have a craving for, you will realize that you don't need it, and will be able to stop using it, simply based on cost/effectiveness, ie. it gets you high, but it is expensive, you can't get a better job, a promotion, etc.
Best of Luck,
Cormagh

You could analyze your mental addiction as I believe it is habit forming not addictive and then substitute it with a good habit to displace it . But then you won't have the medicinal benefit that probably surpasses most medication in impact and fewer side effects. So I would just re address my use by changing the name to medicine and dispense with the guilt trip and the demeaning language .

What you do is instead of smoke it, you DON'T smoke it.
Sorry for the simple answer, but you don't need special treatment. You just need to want to do it.
"Medicate" yourself with Advil. Seriously.
Some fool will probably come along and tell you to see a psychiatrist or a counselor. Don't listen to that BS. You have the power to do it. Just do it. Don't forget about the Advil.

To tell you the truth mate , you have been smoking alot longer than me , but i dont think weed is addictive at all , i smoke it every night because I want to , not because im addicted!
I think weed is like any of the legal drugs such as alchol or tobacco , its just another way of relaxing!
Its been proven that cannabis isnt as harmful as tobacco or any other drug and it only increases risks in mental health if you have a chain of mental health problems in your family...
so all in all ,
Enjoy it , its not all that bad.
think about all the crackheads and meth heads lol .... there the ones that need to get there life back on track!!!!

It's never about "just quitting" and addiction; you also need a support system. Marijuana is a drug and you can become addicted to a drug. You need help if you want to quit effectively. Contact your local Narcotics Anonymous. There is no magic "medication" that's going to help you.

I had a good time with marijuana. I did not find it addicting. As with any other addiction, ease off slowly,. Make sure you are filling the time you spent high with something you like as a substitute. When I was high, I use to paint. What's your talent?

Make sure you have no access to it at all in the first few days, all phone numbers, any contacts, any friends who smoke have to be gone so you won't be tempted, that should help a bit the first few days. If it's not there, you'll be less tempted.

hey man with my experience you will no doubt have trouble sleeping have no appetite and probably be quite irratable. if u have a good doctor tell him/her of your intentions to quit and ask if they can give u something for the short-term unpleasant effects of stopping, such as a sleeping pill or other benzo to keep you calm. it can also help take your mind off smoking aswell.

Your weed must be laced. How can anyone get addicted to marijuana?
However everyone reacts differently to drugs and you may be in the 1% of marijuana users that find it addictive. Therefore if that's the case you can seek rehab. But it is extremely rare that addiction to marijuana happens.

See a psychiatrist and a counselor.. they will look for the underlying reason for your addiction, also the psychiatrist will be able to prescribe you medication that will make the transition to a smoke free like smoother and easier.
