I switched up and flip flopped my list a few times before submitting. Benitez is the best Puerto Rican fighter ever. What a distinguished list for him to lead!

addition - Just trying to start a little friendly debate here, Benitez would take Tito to school if matched at welter and jr. mid!

Pancho ~

First of all thanks for the great question. Second, there has been such a rich history of great fighters that have come from Puerto Rico or have Puerto Rican bloodlines that it is difficult or near impossible to narrow it down to who is number one. As difficult as this task is I'd like to give my top ten because they are all deserving of their names being mentioned when writing "Puerto Ricos Best"

1. Wilfredo Benitez
2. Esteban De Jesus
3. Wilfredo Gomez
4. Sixto Escobar
5. Juan Laporte
6. John John Molina
7. Carlos Ortiz
8. Edwin Rosario
9. Jose Torres
10. Felix Trinidad / Samuel Serrano

Thanks for the question Pancho.

Between Santana and Brent, the blogbaba will give em both a thumbs up and enjoy a great question, thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Hector may have beat both Ray and Duran and been a five time world champ, but Edwin Rosario hit Camacho so hard one time, Camacho ran for well over ten years and actually changed his boxing style in mid career because of one punch. It was the best punch I ever saw thrown that didn't ko the victim.

Blogbaba gives the crown to Jose Torres, pure class from bell to bell.

As debates go Tito had Benitez out gunned, and would have wore him down in much the same manner as DeLa Hoya wore down against him. Trinidad had too much power for Benitez so the blogbaba gotta disagree with Brent.

I think Keith has named number 2,3 and 4 in my eyes, i think C J Caparas has nailed it for me the best Puerto Rican fighter of all time has to be Felix "Tito" Trinidad, for sheer entertainment value you couldn't beat a Trinidad fight, he had thunder in his hands but his chin weren't that great so you never knew what you were gonna get (usually knockdowns galore), i remember being absolutely distraught when B-Hop stopped him in the last round of their fight, i was sitting there waiting for Tito to land one and stop him but it never came. The main thing about Tito was heart, he would never give in and he got himself in situation after situation where he had to prove this. He is one of my favourites of all time i would of paid to watch him anywhere in the world and that is something i can only say about a handful of fighters. I'm still waiting for the day that he comes out of retirement, i know De La Hoya, Hopkins or Winky would all want a piece of him.

Carlos Ortiz, Wilfredo Gomez, and Wilfred Benitez. This is a pick em because they all had great careers. Gomez had an impressive KO percentage of 87.

I think it would be Felix Trinidad because of sheer talent. He also had many great accomplishments in and out of the ring.
