Historically, Father-Mother-Child was much older wide-spread trinity. The Christian doctrine of the trinity -- Father, Son, and Holy Ghost -- was not formalized until the 4th or 5th century C.E., yet the historical concept of a triune deity is much older than that, with evidence dating from the 7th millenium B.C.E. Even in early Christianity, this trinity had a female member, the Holy Ghost. As recorded in the scriptures of early Christians, the Gnostic scriptures, The Holy Ghost was envisioned as Sophia, the Goddess of Wisdom (C *). The Holy Ghost's symbol, a dove, is an ancient Goddess symbol, well-known in the days of early Christianity, as was the concept of Wisdom as female, Sophia. Father, Mother and Child (often a Savior-Son) is an ancient trinity, naturally reflected in the world around us.
Maiden, Mother and Crone -The oldest known trinity, is based on real-life cycles: youth, the maiden; fullness of life, the mother; elder years, the crone.

The answer to this is simple... Maiden, Mother, Crone, are the 3 aspects of the Goddess.. Life, Death, Rebirth are also 3 aspects of the Goddess.... Now when I read the absolute bull sh*t posted above me by the Christian faction trying to claim these aspects as their own, then I get a little pi**ed off.. Especially with one particular female who claims that we Pagans stole this from them..Well you ignorant, no nothing type person, please then explain to me and everyone else how this can be ??? Can the roots of your religion be traced back 40,000 years??? The Earth Mother religion, which in one form or another is the basis of almost all Pagan religions / beliefs can be traced back to that time.. We have proof of this in artifacts... It is much older, but I only chirp about what is proven... The Bible is an assimilation of many ancient Pagan rituals and beliefs.. The entire Christian religion has murder and assimilation to thank for it's rise to where it is today.. The people who blindly follow this claptrap are just Clones in my opinion.. Open your eyes and you may see, how everything you hold so dear had a Pagan beginning and I could write screeds on the subject.. Let's talk about all the festivals you stole.. Easter is almost here, is that one of yours?? No it isn't , you stole it and called it yours.. I like many Wiccan / Pagans know more about your religion than most of you Christians do..I know I got a little off the track here, but I really do get sick of reading utter bull sh*t from a religion that is 2,000 years old and stole everything and are in a state of denial about it... They also seem to have the most brainwashed, can't think for themselves type people in their flock , like sheep.... Love and Light .. Blessed Be .. )O(

First, there is no reason by any potential why Christianity might desire to be unique. historic faith replaced into continuously eclectic - if some thing is real or addresses a philosophical prefer, then why reject it? The early Church had no stable antipathy in the direction of paganism - Christianity replaced right into a secret faith alongside the lines of Eleusis, and a large style of early Christians have been additionally initiated into different Mysteries. As for the Trinity, the early pagan forms of Trinitarian ideals weren't explicitly consistent with a gender-particular sort. the daddy-mom-Son relationship which you consult with replaced right into a potential to an end. The doctrine of the Trinity replaced into meant to envision a particular metaphysical paradigm. Christianity accompanied a sort that replaced into not gender-particular - however the translation replaced into comparable, with the Son and the Holy Spirit representing dynamis and energeia respectively. The oldest generic Trinitarian sort is properly Vedic, and had no overt gender specs.

"Historically, Father-Mother-Child was much older wide-spread trinity. The Christian doctrine of the trinity -- Father, Son, and Holy Ghost -- was not formalized until the 4th or 5th century C.E"
Wrong. The trinity is taught in the Bible, and you are also wrong about the date which it was taught.
"Even in early Christianity, this trinity had a female member, the Holy Ghost. As recorded in the scriptures of early Christians, the Gnostic scriptures,"
The Holy Spirit is not female. There never was a female member of the trinity. The Gnostics were not devout Christians. They beleived Slavation was attained by what you knew.
"The Holy Ghost's symbol, a dove, is an ancient Goddess symbol,"
Really? What is that supposed to mean? Is the dove the property of that pagans? I think not.
No,it was not based on paganism,no,the female was not removed, and no,the trinity was not formulated in the 4th century. That has no basis in fact, along with a lot of other stuff that was in this question.

This is still the official esoteric Catholic doctrine, this is why they venerate Mary.
Satan had counterfeited the Godhead (There is no trinity in the Bible only a Godhead - Father, Son, Holy Spirity 3 seperate beings) Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz is what Satan came up with, did you know that the story goes - Nimrod while living in the sun (as he is the sun-god) he fertilized his wife Semiramis and she gave birth to Tammuz.
Trinity is false doctrine, It is not one person with 3 heads, It is 3 persons with one mind.
If we have to give up the Godhead (which was a first century doctrine, but in reality has existed for eternity) we would also have to reject Jesus, because Satan also counterfeited his virgin birth. BTW Tammuz birth was celebrated on the 25th of december atleast 600BC.
God bless!!

I have to laugh whenever people think there is some similarity alleged similarity between some beliefs that autimatically they assume that one plagerized the other. Why is it so difficult a concept to accpet that different groups may have come to their conclusions independant of each other. And why is it always alleged that Christianswere the ones who stole other peoples ideas. This is a tactic often employed by anti-Christian groups to try and denegrate Christian belief while more often than not replace it with thier own beliefs. Serious researchers aren't that gullible. There is evidence of trinitarian Godhead in the old testement. Even in book of genesis God siad lrt us make man in our own image. Notice the plurality of that statement. Also whe Shadrach Mesech and Abindigo were tossed into the fire the King looked in and said the third fourth man looked like the son of God. Curious.

Does'nt matter whats in pagan religions. Christians believe it, because it is Biblical. The Bible speaks of 3 different persons. It calls all 3 Persons God. Yet, it says there is only one God. Therefore, the 3 persons ARE the one God. It was believed WAY before the 4th or 5th century. It was believed in the 1st century during the Apostles times. The various "counsels" of the church just "formalized" it. Not invented it....theBerean

The christian God started the trinity, as He created everything else. The pagans are just copy-cats.
Perhaps the woman was 'removed' because God doesn't *want* us to worship women, like, (hey catholics,) Mary's dead!
Beyond that, The Holy Ghost was never a woman, as it is a being of Jesus Christ, and Jesus is a man.

You proceed from a presumption. Paganism has ITS roots in God, not the other way around. the answer is in the fact that God has placed knowledge of Himself into the heart of all mankind. It is enough information to let us know, beyond doubt, that there is a greater, higher power in existence. It is not, however, enough to lead to saving faith. That's where the Holy Spirit comes in and leads us to knowledge of God. Even those who do not have access to a Bible can come to redeeming Grace through the Holy Spirit's guidance (as did Abraham; he believed the revelation of God and it was counted to him as faith). This being said, we should not confuse the Father-Mother-Son trinity of paganism with the Father-Son-Spirit trinity that is Jehovah (or YHWH). He is the original, genuine article. Start there and then work your way to belief.

first of all why are you trying, to discuss Christianity and under the same breath, mention the gnostic hog wash, that was written over a century after John wrote revelations, nothing first hand like the bible was, just a lot of hog wash from none believers thats who they were written by, Dan Brown got more wrong than right, because he certainly wasn't interested it the truth, just the money he made from that book of lies, I hope he enjoys his money he exchanged his soul for it, here's proof, here's one example of Dan Brown getting it wrong, he said Mary Magdeline was a prostitute, when in fact she was a woman, that Christ had casted out seven evil spirits from, thats just one of many things, he should of knew that he got wrong, because he just wanted to attack Christianity, with the spirit of anti-Christ, so he wrote his book of lies , the doctrine of demons he wrote, has more holes in it than a sift, the holy trinity is and always was the Father the Son the Holy Spirit, you'll be better off if you, stay away from the gnostic versions their the doctrines of demons, and the lies and deceit that the bible, has been warning about for centuries !!
