I wouldn't see any need to take any painkillers after getting a tattoo; it certainly isn't a part of the standard aftercare (which just relates to keeping it clean and using appropriate ointments etc. on the area).
However, I suspect the majority of tattoo artists wouldn't tattoo a breastfeeding mother. (Professional) tattooing is carried out in very hygenic conditions, so it's very, very unlikely that there would be any issues as a result, but they'd consider it a risk not worth taking, and advise you to wait. I'd suggest getting advice from the artist you propose to go to on their policies.
Hope this helps!

It depends when you got the tattoo done. If you had the tattoo for more than a year before you became pregnant and all then breastfeeding the baby is fine. But if you recently got the tattoo after the baby is born I don't think you should breastfeed the baby without discussing it with his/her pediatrician. I don't know if a mother should breastfeed if they just got the tattoo recently. Call the pediatrician and see what they say. Better safe then sorry.

If you already have a tattoo, you do not need to worry.
But if you want to get a tattoo, all the artists I know will not willingly tattoo someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. It's best to wait. The reason isn't the tattoo, but the problems that might occur.. infection of any sort, getting hepatitis (which is unlikely, but why chance it?).
Better safe than sorry. :)

I suggest you get the tattoo after you wean baby. Tattoo's are still a dangerous procedure. Tylenol is the safest for baby. A majority of pain relievers are secreted in breast milk.

I am sure you will be fine. If in doubt, ask your doctor, or a tattoo artist. They won't let you do something harmful. (as long as it is a real tattoo artist)
