You know, to update. The times have changed, it's about time the bible catches up. All god would have to do is some quick revisions. Explain the creation of man in more detail, what follows death, make women equal etc.

The outdated version in use now just doesn't cut it anymore. People have outgrown it. It's losing popularity quick and has no signs of recovering. Bible 2.1 they could call it.

It'll be a huge success. Churches will fill again and people will sing praises in the streets.

Well, see, He was going to, and Random House was going to publish it. Then there was a bidding war over the rights, and Bantam won out, so Random House sued God over breach of contract.

Then there was that whole debacle over the cover art, and that guy in Germany that claimed that he had the rights to the picture they were going to use on the front, so they had to recall all the books just before they went to retailers.

Then, some intern who was working on some passages in Leviticus claimed that God had "commanded" him to plagiarize some parts from a Stephen Ambrose book, and so Bantam had to do an investigation. Of course, the intern had been paid off by Random House, and the whole thing turned out to be a ploy to delay publication of the book, to buy more time for their second lawsuit.

I'd be surprised if we see the thing before 2010 at the very earliest.

The Bible has been published in the current languages of many, already. And more are being worked on right now.

"Though the Bible continues to be a best-seller worldwide, millions pay scant attention to it and are unfamiliar with its teachings."

This ^ appears to be the case, regarding this questioner.

"What Does the Bible Really Teach?" is the introductory textbook primarily used in the home Bible study program of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Over 52,000,000 copies have been produced in 158 languages since the book's release in 2005.

Besides, if God gave us all the details of everything:
#1. We wouldn't be capable of understanding a lot of it, & wouldn't be able to store it all;
#2. We don't need to know it;
#3. The details might distract us from concentrating on the main theme of God's Word, his heavenly kingdom government, which would be very dangerous in these times.

Simply because He doesn't have to, all that we need to know is in the Bible.

As far as the Bible not cutting it goes, it was and still is the best selling book of all time.

Reading the Bible will not fill Churches, it's only when people apply what they read that things begin to happen.

There are many people alive today who have read the Bible and gained the knowledge that it gives regarding God, salvation etc, but sadly they have the knowledge without the wisdom to use it.

In it all there is this supremely thing called faith, without this faith then again all the knowledge is meaningless, you may be floundering in a stormy sea, and someone throws you a life ring, which you know will save your life, but until you act in faith and reach out to grab the ring then it will not save you.

Again there are many people today who see the life ring yet just look at it wondering to themselves, I dont like the colour of it, perhaps it could be a different shape, what exactly is it made of and so on, and in doing so they fail to reach out before it is too late.

there is the bible
and then there is what is written in your heart.
Also, at some point in the bible (I forget which prophet) (I have also heard this of Bahaoula). That the prophet had 3 scribes working day and night for him as he dictated about 70 books. At the end of the week, he reviewed all that was written down, and then destroyed it saying: "The world is not yet ready for this."

That being said, there are many stories of the saints and their lives, and in each is a treasure that bolsters the faith. Like a building made of precious stones, the bible is the foundation, and all that is agreeable after that, belongs in that house. Books that were written down since then have been accepted or rejected based upon whether they agree with certain aspects of the bible.

So, yeah, there has been many holy tomes written since then, and you may read any and all books that build up your faith, but the bible itself is the rosetta stone, so to speak, of everyone's story of salvation.

The Bible is the Holy notice of God. there are a number of variants (in different words, printings) because of fact of call for. There are no contradictions, yet people who do not comprehend the meanings of the scriptures get perplexed relatively and picture there are. If by using variants you advise translations, then you certainly might desire to comprehend that the unique text fabric might desire to be translated into different languages for persons international. There are as much as date translations interior of a language because of fact meanings of words replace from one era to the subsequent. as an occasion in English the notice "gay" meant happy or delicate back interior the forties yet capacity something distinctive right this moment.

The bible is the by far the most published of all books ever written. It is no way out dated. And people are leaving the churchs not because of the bible, but false teachers that are starving them to death for the word of God.

Honestly, I think no new edition of the Bible would be given any credibility. Anyone who wrote anything resembling a book of the Bible would be accused of being insane or delusional.

In the last book of the Bible, the Book of Revelations, the last word is "Amen", meaning 'so be it'. This is it. There is nothing to be added. God tells us that nothing is to be deleted from it and nothing is to be added to it. Doing that is a sin by man. And God doesn't have to add anything else because He finished it. Jesus will come again. Be prepared. Watch out. Amen.

2.1 It's great. They could distribute it on CD ROM and audio tape. Maybe even make it have some pull out pictures and fuzzy parts for children to pet.

Now if I could only get a signed copy..
