I have been on both ends. At one point I was a priestess in a coven, respected as a witch. I lived that way for almost six years. I'm not going to go into detail about what changed my life around, but I can assure you, the life I had been living was miserable. I was cutting my arms up so I would feel something and digging myself deeper in a hole to try to fill up the overwhelming sadness in me that I didn't understand. I tried so many things, even medication; therapy.
Right now I'm sick, the doctors don't know what's wrong with me. I am in horrible pain every single day and almost died once already in the past year and a half. And I can tell you honestly that my life is SOOOOO much better now compared to what it was before. Yeah, I'm in pain everyday, but I would choose the pain and serving God, then not having pain and not serving Him. It's worth it. I have free will that He gave me and I CHOOSE to use it to serve and glorify Him.
What is it about Christianity that you just don't get?

Re examine Ray W's answer. it is an fairly good one. I consider him that what we believe isn't our "opinion." with a view to be Christian, our ideals could be based on the word of God. It teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, 2nd man or woman of the Holy Trinity. He became born of the Virgin Mary, lived, taught, and died on the the bypass by way of fact the only sinless One. He became buried, and on the third day He arose from the lifeless, and ascended into heaven. His dying for our sins supplies us remission of sins while we repent and say sorry. His teachings and examples and ask your self supply us preparation and spiritual perception and awareness, and spiritual awareness, as each and every you will undergo and become. lower back, that's no longer opinion. The Christian Church spent an fairly long term clarifying those ideals approximately Christianity and Christ in the early days of Christianity while such fairly some human beings tried to instruct such fairly some multiple issues approximately Christ and His teachings. What got here out of all that talk and clarification became the Nicene Creed. in case you prefer to appreciate what Christians believe, examine it.

<--- Agnostic and not religious
Are you miserable because you refuse to even attempt to understand how and why people don't think the same way that you do?
Does it make you feel truly happy and at peace with yourself and the world around you by insulting those who don't?
True learning comes in taking the time and making the effort to understand that which you despise. It's incredibly easy to pick out the flaws in Christianity. Do you have the intellect and understanding of it to make a strong and passionate defense for the good things that can be learned from Christianity, no matter how much you dislike it?
It's as easy to refuse to adhere to the the conventions of society as it is to follow them blindly. What is truly difficult is to understand why people do both and find the balance in between.

It was once (I sound like I've lived for a very long time!) when I thought God was a domineering controlfreak who wanted to take over my life and use me.
Then I realized through experience that God actually knows what's best for me. He has control of my life, but he still lets me think for myself.
Sometimes the only way we humans learn is through mistakes that cost a lot.

Jesus lets you think for yourself. He doesn't make your life choices, YOU DO. He just knows at all times what you are going to choose and what roads you will take. He doesn't put words in your mouth or make your body do actions.
YOU ARE YOUR OWN PERSON. HE DOESN'T CONTROL YOU.
He is there to pick up the pieces for your mistakes if you are willing to let him into your life.

Not at all. Indeed, it is Jesus who taught Christian about FREE WILL, which give us Christians to choose whatever they and even God Himself cannot take the free will He has given to Christians.
Now why don't you studies about other religions and compare it with Christianity. You'll be amazed about the idea of FREE WILL.

Because God's thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways.
I can see why you are confused. You are mixing false Christian doctrine in with Christianity. In God's eyes, no one is good. We are all guilty of sin, each and everyone of us, except for the innocent, such as children. We believe in God because He has proved Himself to us.
God does not send people to hell, we send ourselves because we have rejected His love and salvation which comes through His Son, Jesus the Christ and His sacrifice. He paid the price of our sins by dying in our place. That is how much He loves you, He sent His only begotten Son to suffer and die for you and everyone else who receives Him. When we refuse God's gift of eternal life, we choose to be separated from God, which is hell.
It is not what we do or don't do that gets us into Heaven. The Bible says that if we could be good enough, then Jesus died for nothing. Only those who are "Born Again" can enter. Being Born Again means having God remove your spirit and replacing it with Himself, the Holy Ghost. That is why we are called new creatures. Once we are born again, God gives us the power to become His children. Only those by the power of the Holy Spirit can be pleasing, faithful, and obedient unto Christ unto death.
You better receive Him soon, because God is going to close the door soon, because He is coming soon to bring judgement on the Devil and all those who chose to follow him.
