Vishnu has His abode in the Baikunth. He is all the time there.

Krishn is unique. He performs leelas ( Divine pastimes) with those who love Him and whom He loves.

So we can have an opportunity to be in the company of Krishn even in this materialistic world. This is not possible with Vishnu.

God is only one. When He decides to incarnate in this world, He becomes Krishn or Rama. He is extremely friendly with all of us.

"Is Visnu the god who is superior to Krsna?"
That greatly depends on the Vaishnava sect you follow. Some hold that Krsna is the highest form and Visnu is but one incarnation of Krsna. Others hold that Visnu is the higher form and Krsna is but one incarnation. Does it matter? Nope, because in Hinduism they're all just names of the One/Divine/God.

"Is there more than one?"
No, the Vedas state clearly "There is only one God, though humanity calls It by many names." (Rig Veda 1:164.46). Thus in Hinduism (all sects) the various names are just names of the one God....it's how we, as human beings, make a personal connection. As it is often said by many Hindus I know "There is only one God who can be called by all names and has millions of forms, but ultimately is beyond all names and forms."

Excellent question!

Peace be with you.

How did you get this doubt?

An individual is having different roles to play. To a wife he is husband, to son he is father, for parents he is a son, in the office he is an employee, for subordinates he is the boss . for the boss he is subordinate etc. In all the roles the individual is the same.

Here also generally he is called Vishnu. Depending upon the necessities he appears in different roles and withdraws after the purpose is served. Vishnu came in the form of Krishna due to the need of hour and withdrew as soon as the purpose is over. There is no superiority or inferiority.

Lord Krishna is the incarnation(Avatar)of Lord Vishnu in Dwapar Yug. Like wise Lord Rama is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Tretaya Yug. In Satya yug Lord Vishnu had many Avatars- Matsya or Mina (Fish), Kurma or Kachhapa (Tortoise), Shukara (Wild Boar or Pig), Narasingha(Half man and half lion), Bamana (The Dwarf), Bhrigupati (Parasuram). In this Kali Yug Lord Vishnu (Lord Jagannath) will take the Avatar called Kalki and will cleanse this world by killing the evil ones and protecting the pious ones.

That's a deep question.

Krsna is the eigth reincarnation of Vishnu. So in a sense they are one in the same. So one can't say that either is superior.

Depending on which sect of Hinduism you speak of, different believers believe different things. One common theme is the dichotomy of monotheism and polytheism.

Yes there are numerous deities, each invoked for thier own moral or natural standing. But, throughout Hinduism there is a principal of a omnipresent, omnipotent and eternal being which guides and posesses all. Call it whatever you want, but it is very similiar to the Western notion of "God".

So are there more than one? In the local sense, yes....in the global, no!

Hindu philosophy is difficult to comprehend so far the question of Avatars are concerned. For instance it is written in Bagawata purana that there are 10 incarnations of Vishnu. One such incarnation is Shri Krishna, who is considered to be a Poorna(Full) avatar(incarnation) When Sri Vishnu himself as descended on earth as Shri Krishna, they are equal only. Here you must understand that Vishnu is a principle of preservation and not a human body. Only for answer sake I have given you an example about the equality. Avatars(incarnations) descend to take human birth in this world to move with us, interact with us, play with us and also they bless us with supreme wisdom by which we can get rid of the cycle of birth and death and merge in the supreme. nagarajan.

Vishnu and Krisna are the self same personality of God.

Vishnu is like the postion of the judge in the court, very official and making judgements etc..., while the same judge at home who is more of informal, relaxed, friendly and having various relationship with the family members, is like the position of Krishna.

The same personality of Godhead in two different features.
Vishnu is majestic and opulent.
Krisna is sweet and simple.

Vishnu is not superior to krishna, because Krishna and vishnu both are the same, the two avatars of god vishnu in different yugas.

Krishna is said to be incarnation of Vishnu

But Krishna really is not just an incarnation.... Krishna who taught Gita was in fact far higher than Vishnu, whose only job is to maintain the unvierse

Krishna is ParamShiva, He is MahaKaal, the zeitgeist, He is Brahmm in his manifested form

Understanding krishna is understanding Santan Dharma
