there is nothing wrong with using anything in this world. there are some that want to bully and have power over other people, so they make these things called laws that they themselve lift not the little finger to obey. all things are of God, and are a gift to you to freely use and learn by that use-go my friend and freely use and give as is given you.

"It's not what goes in to a man's mouth that defiles him, but what comes out of it."
That said, pot is bad for the body. No more so than booze or tobacco, and certainly not bad enough to warrant criminalization. The criminalization of marijuana is a long and interesting story, and almost none of it have anything to do with the harmful effects of smoking it.
As far as dogma, there's another kind of dogma that claims that pot is a miracle cure-all. It's not. It might have some medical benefits, but the real reason advocates claim it has therapeutic value is that, if it did, it would lessen the penalties associated with possessing it.
Now, marijuana is a hallucinogen, and it's my belief that that class of drugs can, indeed, lead to spiritual benefits if used correctly.
But let's admit it: most advocates of legalization just want to get high, and nothing more. I see nothing wrong with that, and no reason why they shouldn't just be truthful about it. You can come up with all kinds of shaky reasoning why it should be made legal, but it all comes down to the fact that smoking it makes you feel good, and people want to feel good.

First off I work at a substance abuse clinic and I can come up with about 20 non-spiritual reason not to smoke pot. From a religious side Philippians 4:8 says what we are supposed to be doing. Anything that is not noble, pure, lovely, constructive, should be shed off as useless activities. Scripture also states that earthly authorities are placed there by God and we are to respect and obey them. The law and authority says pot is illegal so there you go. As far as God making the plants, yes he did. But I am sure you are not smoking the stuff grown in the wild in normal God created circumstances because if you are you're definitely not high.

well, historically, my people used it mainly to keep bugs off the desirable plants, so you should be aware that it has insecticidal properties. It was also grown as a rope fibre. Many old women were arrested for growing it. They couldn't understand why the plants kept getting raided by neighborhood youths....
It has been abused, and I don't blame the higher-ups for having a hate-on about it. It is a beautiful plant with wonderful properties that have been sacrificed because of man's stupid propensity for turning something good into something evil.
Hey, maybe there's a story in there somewhere.
I guess that I'm sad about it, but I don't really need that in my life, so I'm not passionate about legalizing it. (It would just be taxed, and filtered, and regulated, and then the manufacturers would be sued for causing cancer.)
I suppose the wars on the planet would cease, though. But the "I don't give a f-ck" attitude would probably cause civilization to fall.
My personal belief, especially during Lent, is to give up anything that would cause pleasure, or would cause you to not "face up" to your problems (like if you use alcohol or drugs to solve your problems) Giving up something that you hate obviously, is not a sacrifice. Giving up something you desire is. Annihilation of self. The rule of the day. Put your desires on a tether and sort through what you NEED and what you WANT.

Well, you see, marijuana was not intended to be smoked and used for hallucinegenic (spelled wrong probably) purposes, by God's will or not. The stuff in marijuana (tetrahydrocannabinol [THC]) that makes it so pyschoactive was used as a mean of defense per say. Cannabis (marijuana) evolved and got those effects, because animals dont like the feeling of being "high", but it just so happens that people like you enjoy it and that sucks for the cannabis. Thats why theoretically, Cannabis (if it isnt extinct) wont have the same effects in a million or so years (or a very slight effect).
Not saying its bad to smoke pot, you can do what you want to do, im not your parents; Just saying that you should know your facts before accusing people of being brainwashed and mindless and saying what disrespects God and what doesnt. And not to mention how biased and ignorant you are.

I agree! In fact, even certain christian denominations use marijuana in church, and what is more spiritual and fellowship than passing around and sharing something that helps you get in touch with the spiritual realm? i no longer smoke it because I have kids, however, the moment it is legalized I'll be first in line - it makes it easier to be patient, have different views of things, etc.
i don't drink or do any other drugs, but i believe pot is given by God for us to use.
When I was pregnant with my second child, I was prescribed pot because I was throwing up 30 to 50 times a day, throwing up blood, etc., and was allergic to the alternatives - at first I was not used to it anymore, and accidentally smoked too much, getting a bit high - found I was a better parent for it, not only for not having my head in the toilet, but I had more patience, had more fun playing silly games, and came up with fun things to do I wouldn't have thought of otherwise - I know it's no good to get high around your kids without another adult to supervise (I had hubby there), but it's an interesting side note, eh.

Well, just to be objective or play devil's advocate, (or Christian advocate?), asbestos is perfectly natural too. So just because something is natural, doesn't mean it's healthful.
Having said that, I see nothing particularly unhealthy about marijuana besides perhaps inhaling ash. But it's definitely more benign than alcohol, which I consume, so who am I to judge?
(I'm unclear on what "disrespectful to God" means, so I assume it's regarding the healthfulness of marijuana...)

As Christians, we are also admonished to obey the laws established by those who are in authority. We are told that everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.
We are also told that the body is the temple of the Lord and that we should not do anything that harms it.
Everything you do, as a Christian, should be done in love. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 13 if you want to know what Christian love is.
God makes it clear that he does not want you to break the law or hurt your body. However, you stand before him on your own. Neither I nor anyone else can stand before him for you.

God put it here for a reason either to smoke or make rope. But only in moderation to much of a good thing is bad for you.
