The US invading Iran

The military might of the United States would quickly be able to overwhelm the Iranian military and topple the government. However, tensions against the US by the Iranian citizenry is much more hostile than that of Iraqi citizens. It would take a massive military presence on the ground and the extremely strict enforcement of martial law in order to maintain some form of containment. Otherwise, the underground insurgency which would arise in Iran would be much more devastating than what we are facing in Iraq.

Ok.... the invasion part or occupation? We would roll over the Iranians through to Tehran killing and basically wiping out their military. However, I don't believe that we could occupy and pacify it. Americans have never been much of an occupying force. The British are infinately better at it than we will be. Iraq was a perfect example. We rolled through to Baghdad with no problem and something like only a little over 100 dead. It's the occupation that is hell. Hopefully, I pray that we don't have to go to war. I don't want our soldiers dying and I don't want any Iranians dead either. Remember, war is a rich mans battle and a poor mans fight. Stop dying for bullsh!t. Our leaders (the US and Iranian leadership) suck. Don't die for them.

OK, I am a Viet Nam Vet. In 'Nam they tied our hands so tight we could hardly do anything. If they had let us go in and fight, like WWII for instance, we could have won in months.

In Iraq at first the same thing was happening. With this surge, and Iraq's pledge to open all areas for our troops to go into things are getting better.

If we were to go into Iran with the FULL intention of winning we could do it in a matter of weeks
