Some dogs will feel a little sick while they are pregnant. Do not force her to eat, just leave food down so that she can eat when she is hungry. You may want to call the vet and ask just to be sure that their is nothing else going on, especially if she is over 5 years old. She probably will not start eating a lot until the last week or two of pregnancy, and then she will really eat until the puppies are about 5 weeks.

She does not need to be switched to puppy food until the last 3 weeks of pregnancy, but until then I would keep her on a premium adult food and maybe add a few goodies to it. I would normally recommend canned food, but with all of the recent recalls I would recommend canned chicken breast. It should help stimulate her appetite.

You didn't mention what you feed your dog but I am sure you have heard about the recalls by now. Also, you probably know that pregnant and nursing dogs need puppy food or food different from what you feed an adult dog that isnot pregnant because they have a need for higher amounts of fat and protein at this time. I don't know of pregnant dogs losing their appetite but I would check that out with a Vet. You might also see if she wants to eat a puppy food and change the diet per your Vet's orders because changing diet can be hard on her. You could also try adding some Dan Active Yogurt to her food. And ask your Vet about giving her some pumpkin pie filling while changing her food. I have used that for my dogs when they have stomach upset after romping in the dog park or if they get ahold of something that doesn't agree with them and they start to get loose.

I had the equal main issue! This concept helped me it will support you! Just make certain that: You have your three every day foods (wealthy in fibre & protein). Between foods have pleanty of unpolluted fruit (or veg), and should you nonetheless no longer convinced have any factor you yearning on the time (do not attempt to hinder matters that you just yearning considering the fact that, you're going to uncover that starvation seens to broaden). Also it is helping felling fuller should you drink a cup of water or tea (pref. inexperienced tea considering the fact that is healthful) 30min or so earlier than consuming your most important foods. And don't forget you consuming for two so could be very usual i could say!

change the food and see, some time dogs are also get fed up with the routine food during pregnancy, like humans. Try other nutritious feeds. Mean while have you taken your dog to your veterinary Doc. If not do so. She may have some internal problems also.

More importantly, what were you feeding her? Is she getting fed any of those foods on the recall list?
I would mention this to your vet as I have not heard of a drop in appetite in pregnant dogs. I suppose it could be possible, best to check it out.
Hope you have her spayed after this litter....

It could be morning sickness, just like humans have. Monitor her closely and if she doesn't eat at all soon then you should take her for a vet check.
