If we sell you the vehicle for cash, it doesn't matter. You do not have to have a drivers license to buy a car for cash. If you are financing the vehicle, you have to have a valid drivers license and proof of full coverage insurance in order to drive the car off the lot. Now technically, we (the dealership) cannot tell the difference between a suspended license and a valid license. Where you're going to get caught is with your insurance company. The insurance company will get a DMV print out which will show if you have a valid license. When they find out it is suspended, they will not issue your full coverage insurance and therefore, you will never be allowed to take the car off the lot.

In the state of Washington it's very very easy to find out if some one has a valid drivers license or not. Anyone with access to the Internet just has to go to the DOL website and click on check license status and enter in the license number in just a matter of seconds the results come back.
