Little Boy Blue:
Little boy blue come blow your horn
The sheep are in the meadows
The cows are in the corn
Where is the little boy who tends the sheep
He's under th hat stack fast asleep
Humpty Dumpty:
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the kings horses
And all the kings men
Couldn't put Humpty together again
Little Miss Muffett
Little Miss Muffett sat on her tuffet
Eating her curds and whey
When along came a spider
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffett away
Little Bo Peep:
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep
And doesn't know where to find them
Leave them alone and they'll come home
Wagging their tails behind them.
Little Jack Horner:
Little Jack Horner sat in the corner
Eating his Christmas pie
He put in his thumb pulled out a plum
And said What a good boy am I.
Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater:
Peter Peter pumpkin eater
Had a wife but couldn't keep her
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her alive and well
Mary Mary Quite Contrary:
Mary Mary quite contrary
How does your garden grow
With silver bells and cockal shells
And pretty maids all in a row
Ring around the Rosies:
Ring around the rosies
A pocket full of posies
Ashes ashes
We all fall down
Hey Diddle Diddle:
Hey Diddle Diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed
To see such sport
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
Jack and Jill:
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.
The Little Girl With the Curl:
There once was a little girl with a curl
Right in the middle of her forehead
And when she was good she was very very good
But when she was bad she was horrid.
These are a few of the ones my grandma taught me. Quick bit of info...Mary Mary quite contrary is about Mary Queen of Scots who was beheaded and Ring around the Rosies is a song written about the black plague in England during the1800's. Kinda changes their meaning huh!

I love this one because Old King Cole is apparently a stoner...
Old King Cole
Was a merry old soul,
And a merry old soul was he;
He called for his pipe,
And he called for his bowl,
And he called for his fiddlers three.
Each fiddler, he had a fiddle,
And a very fine fiddle had he;
Twee-tweedle-dee, tweedle-dee, went the fiddlers,
Oh, there's none so rare,
As can compare
With old King Cole and his fiddlers three!
I love this one because it's so absurd:
Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on,
We'll all have tea.
Sukey take it off again,
Sukey take it off again,
Sukey take it off again,
They've all gone away.
This is my all time favorite, probably because it's just so darn fun to say:
This is the house that Jack built!
This is the malt that lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the cat that killed the rat
That ate the malt that lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the cow with the crumpled horn
That tossed the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the maiden all forlorn
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn
That tossed the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the man all tattered and torn
That kissed the maiden all forlorn
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn
That tossed the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the priest all shaven and shorn
That married the man all tattered and torn
That kissed the maiden all forlorn
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn
That tossed the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the cock that crowed in the morn
That waked the priest all shaven and shorn
That married the man all tattered and torn
That kissed the maiden all forlorn
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn
That tossed the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
This is the farmer sowing his corn
That kept the cock that crowed in the morn
That waked the priest all shaven and shorn
That married the man all tattered and torn
That kissed the maiden all forlorn
That milked the cow with the crumpled horn
That tossed the dog that worried the cat
That killed the rat that ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built!
edit: so funny, just noticed yahoo answers won't allow this nursery rhyme to use the traditional word for a rooster --

My two faves are LONG and I don't have the book in front of me nor do I remember ALL the words. However, my two fave are "Old Mother Hubbard" and Winkin' Blinkin' and Nod....
In the mean time:
There was a little girl
who had a little curl
right in the middle of her forehead
When she was good she was very very good,
but when she was bad she was horrid.
I had put in "This is the house that Jack Built" but I saw someone else had it there, so I'll do another
Doctor Foster went to Gloster but stepped in a puddle right up to his middle and never went there again.
And another for good measure:
The man from the wilderness came to ask me, how many wild strawberries grew in the sea,
I answered him as I saw good, as many red herrings grew in the wood.

I've got 2 for you and I love this one.
Incy wincy spider climbed up the water spout,
down came the rain and washed poor incy out,
out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain,
so incy wincy spider climed up the spout again.
* You have to do the hand actions to go with the song, so it's more animated and the kids love to participate.
This is for kids who are 2 yrs and older.
Ring a ring a rosy,
a pocket pull of posies a
tisue a tisue,
and we all fall down.
* What you have to do is is form a circle and hold hands and go around in a circle while you sing the song and the bit where it say we "all fall down" you all drop to the floor. (make sure it's carpet) Suprisingly girls love this and it's so much fun.

One that I have edited for my son's bedtime prayer.
"Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
The Angels watch me through the night
And guide me with their precious sight."
You might also check out this site. It has alot of nursery rhymes on it.

Well, my parents changed the lyrics a little on two of my faves:
Rock-a-bye baby in the tree top,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bow breaks the cradle will fall,
And mommy (or daddy) will catch you, cradle and all. (Originally: ...and down will come baby, cradle and all.)
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
And when the sun comes shining through,
I'll have a new day thanks to You. (Originally: ...if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.)
God bless mommy, God bless daddy....etc.
However, my absolute favorite is one that my mom always sang to my brother, me, and my sister. Now I sing it to my son:
Two little children, lyin' in bed,
One of them sick and the other 'most dead.
Sent for the doctor and the doctor said,
"Feed them children on short'nin' bread."
Momma's little babies love short'nin', short'nin,
Momma's little babies love short'nin' bread.
Momma's little babies love short'nin', short'nin,
Momma's little babies love short'nin' bread.
Put on the skillet! Put on the lid!
Momma's gonna make a little short'nin' bread.
That ain't all she's gonna do,
Momma's gonna make a little cocoa, too.
Momma's little babies love short'nin', short'nin,
Momma's little babies love short'nin' bread.
Momma's little babies love short'nin', short'nin,
Momma's little babies love short'nin' bread.
(Repeat lyrics in whatever fashion you wish until baby is asleep!)
Then, of course, there is "You Are My Sunshine" but the second verse of that always makes me cry. If you aren't familiar with it, here is the whole song:
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy, when skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping,
I dreamt I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken,
And I hung my head and cried.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy, when skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
Well, that's it from me! Hope it helps. I just wish I could tell you the tune for the singing ones. But you can make up whatever you wish! Good luck.

i like this one
and i found the best web site for kids songs
A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true
So dream...
