Your body sweats and sometimes certain detergents or too much detergent in the wash can irritate the skin. Use Gold Bond Medicated powder after you shower. Tide detergent is also common skin irritant.

True Jock itch is caused by the affected area being warm and moist alot, this is because these are ideal conditions for the growth of the fungus that causes it. Trichophitin Rubrim (Sp?) if i recall is the fungus that causes jock itch, athletes foot and a few other fungal infections of the body.

So, keep yourself dry, and cool, a good bit of advice to any man as we can develop other medical issues if we don't. And go to the store, grab some fast acting tinactin, lotirimin, or mincozole(sp?) they are anti-fingals for jock itch and athletes foot, and you should check your feet to see if you got athletes foot, about 50% of those who have jock itch get the other, and about 10% of those who get athletes foot get jock itch. so one coulda given you the other, they are fungus' and can be spread if you don't clean it up. Get some of that cooling powder in the green or gold plastic container, gold bond i think its called. and make sure you dry off totally after showering, and wash and dry yourself after sexual activity.

jock itch is a fungal infection similar to athletes foot. it doesn't go away, but there are several over the counter creams to cure it. it takes numerous treatments with the cream, so don't stop using it if it goes away, or it will come right back. keep using the cream for at least two weeks after it clears up to be sure it's gone. to prevent further infection, or re-infection, use corn starch and not baby powder to help keep the area dry, especially if you sweat a good deal.

jock itch may be a yeast infection. visit the pharmacist for a med that will clear it up. wear looser underwear, stay clean, and try a powder as your groin area retains alot of heat.
if this doesn't work, see your doctor as it may not be just "jock itch".
