Cut down your food intake to 1,500 calories a day. Excersize (even take a walk) for at least 20 minutes a day. Now you will quickly lose water weight and then your body will go into drought mode (your metabolism will slow way down) as a way to keep your body from starving. Now even if you lose 2 pounds a week, that's still over 100 pounds a year. So in a year and nine months, you will probably weigh what you should be weighing.

I use the Atkins method. It is real easy to follow, and goes well with moderate to advanced exercise (You can work into an exercise program - or even lose weight while not exercising, although that will be slower.) Studies have shown that the Atkins method leads to improved cardiovascular effects and weight loss, compared to other diets.
You have to buy the Atkins Diet Revolution book or another one and follow the (notorious) Phase I for two weeks, by then you will have lost a few pounds, feel a lot better, and can start working on phase II, where you gradually introduce a variety of new foods into your diet. You will most likely meet some people who will say all kinds of negative things about this diet, but they are all untrue, and mostly based on a caricature of Phase I (the first two weeks) of the diet, and a lot of old-wives tales, some of which have been recycled as "low-fat diet" propaganda by professionals over the years.
If you can see yourself as a healthy person, eating healthy foods, and being more active, while you watch pounds come off on the scale, Atkins might be the best program for you. You will see for yourself why there is an obesity epidemic, and will be proud of yourself for doing something about it.
If you're like me, you probably have some fattening foods you are addicted to. For me, it was realizing that oatmeal cookies weren't going to make me healthier, but rather lead me to consume more high calorie and even less healthy junk food. Once you are into Phase II on the Atkins diet, I suggest you meditate on your old eating habits to help you realize how they keep you from realizing and maintaining your goals.
Best of Luck!

I've worked in a supplement store for several years now. Over the course of my job, i have seen people lose 5 lbs, i have seen people lose 150lbs. Losing weight consists of 3 things. They support each other. Diet, exercise, and supplementation. it takes about 2 weeks to make a habit. those 3 things MUST become a habit, to ensure success. For 2 weeks, try eating healthy and working out, before you go spending money on supplements.
Supplements i suggest:
1. A lean protein powder. Whey, Isolate, or Potassium Casinate are the best.
2. EFA (essential fatty acids) Good for breaking down the stored fat in the body, so it becomes easier to burn.
3.CLA(conjugated lipoic acid) similar to EFA's, work good together. also good for hair, eyes, skin and nails
4. multi vitamin. liquid is ALWAYS best. the body can absorb liquid more thoroughly than pills.
5. fat burner. gives some energy during the day, helps curb food cravings, and helps speed the metabolism up.
*If you cant get all of these right away, save up. Taking them together really makes a difference. Begin on the diet and exercise part first*
Diet:
Most people tend to think, the less i eat, the more weight i'll lose. Actually, this is the worst possible thing to do. Your body, which is accustomed to eating a normal amount of food, see's that you are beginning to starve it, and then begins holding onto whatever it can take. So basically, whatever you eat, even if its 1 salad and chicken breast a day, it will stay with you. They key here is to eat several times a day, just in small, lean portions. This right away will cause a natural cleanse and will also begin to speed up the metabolism. During the day, it is best to have 3 real meals, and 3 protein shakes. The shakes will go in between your meals.
Breakfast:
(choose)1 form of protein: Lean steak, egg whites, plain oatmeal with protein powder
*WITH* whole wheat toast and fruit.
**you can get i cant believe its not butter spray for added taste...dont spray too much**
2.5 hours later: Protein shake
Lunch:
(choose )Protein source: Chicken, fish, beef
WITH salad, or green beans, or asparagus or brown rice
2.5 hours later: Protein shake
Dinner: Same as lunch, maybe just choose other option
before bed: protein shake
Exercise:
Weight/Resistance 5 days a week.
Cardio 5 days a week.
*Later on, you can get to 2 sessions of cardio a day, which would be for faster results. First thing when you wake up, with no food in you. And again at night*
i really hope this helps. ill be checking back to see any other posts. good luck.
