I just ran into this girl I use to know a few years back and want to take her out somewhere to catch up on the times we've missed since the last time we were friends (we also never dated, although i'd like to). What would be the best ideas for places to go in this type of scenario?

I think the best suggestion is a restaurant. Not very fancy, not very sleazy. The best way is to go public. I am sure you are nervous about a meeting, so is she. If you are going to be in isolated place, just 2 of you, it will make the meeting taught for both of you. When, on being around people smooths the situation, and make you more relaxed. Do not take her to a bar. It have to be something nice, Little private, but on public. Hope this helps.

You could ask her what type of food she likes and if there is somewhere she would like to go. Otherwise, take her somewhere that you are comfortable and quit worrying about it, be your wonderful self and lose yourself in the warmth of the moment and rejoice you found each other again. Don't sweet the small stuff and have a happy ever after.

Best advice is to go somewhere you can actually talk and not shout. Also somewhere you feel comfortable, nothing worse than being awkward when you're meeting someone.

since you want to make dating an option - go to dinner. pick a nice quiet place where you can catch up. treat her well and show her how grown up you are! :) so she can see the potential.

I say take her to some place you two have been before, and order something cute/romantic. Maybe like something that sound impressive to say, or how about you say something she used to like to order in the past.She'll be impressed you remembered!
