LISTEN. That is what important especially when a girl is sad. When she talk, don't give solutions to whatever problems she is telling you. Comfort her. Just listen. No need for solutions. All she needs is someone who listen to her. Talking for girls is one way of releasing stress. If she doesn't talk, listen still. There's enough thing to be heard in silence. Hug her so tight to make her feel secure. Show her how much she mean to you. Show her that you appreciate her. That's women.

Inquire as to how she feels and why she thinks she feels that particular way. Ask her questions and attentively listen to her answers - appropriately giving thoughtful, assuring, and useful feedback. Make her know you care and let her know it's alright to be honest, open, and candid with you (hopefully it is). Allow her to trust you, and trust her. Give her honest compliment and reenforcement. Try to help her work through her problems meaningfully, and try to help her understand her situation so that you both may work towards a more favorable condition. But, unfortunately, simply talking it over may not help. In which case, simply assure her that you are there for her. Hug her. Love her. Be affectionate towards her. Let her know you're there and whatever she is facing needn't be faced alone. Just being in your arms might give her enough security to bravely face her problems. Be strong for her, and try to bring out her own strength.

Give her a hug, talk about it, calm her down. Some times talking about things help. So try to get her to talk about it.

Find out what's the problem and try to cheer her up in whichever way you can. I'm sure she'll appreciate your care and concern.
