Had some nightmares in 2002 when visiting the in-laws (they lived right next to Dulles and you would hear planes all night).

Also, for the first few months, whenever a plane flew over the city, you would see EVERYONE look up. Not so much anymore, but every so often when I see a plane I wonder, "should that be so close".

I lived on the corner of 43rd and 11th ave, one block from the Hudson River, and planes normally fly low coming up the Hudson on approach to La Guardia Airport. For at least 2-3 years this had an affect on me. Everytime I heard a plane coming I would run to the window to see what it was. I also had a clear view of the George Washington Bridge, and everytime I heard a loud noice, etc, I would also run to the window thinking that the bridge was being blown up.

Only a tiny bit and it's only when it's super loud and low. I don't freak out, I just get a tiny bit nervous for a second and glance up at the sky. I probably did that before 9/11 but I notice when I do it now.

No, not commercial planes, but I get a little rattled when I hear a military jet pass low overhead. There was a lot of that for weeks after 9/11.

I did for the first few weeks.
When I heard a fire truck for the first few weeks, I would look to see the if the Empire State Building was OK.
Even now, when I am on the Staten Island Ferry, I still look for the Twin Towers, thinking they are hiding behind a cloud or something.

No. I live in Queens right between JFK and LaGuardia. I'd be freaked out all of the time. Most of the time the city is too noisy to hear any plane flying over head.

I don't pay attention to the sound of planes (I never heard anything), but whenever I see smoke from a big fire, I remember 9/11.
