How would you describe someone who is fun loving?

Many people use " fun loving" to desribe their personality, especially in those personal ads. So what does " fun loving" mean exactly?

they seek excitement or adventure and like to try new things which are "fun"

Isn't completely contradictory, redundant and illogical to say "fun-loving"? It doesn't make sense.
