I was wondering how you can not believe in evolution since the facts are right in your face. It's kind of like saying you don't believe in the sun.. it's obvious that it's there. I am not putting you down I just want to understand. Thanks.

Nobody said we evolved from monkeys, we elvolved from homo sapien species and the monkey is a close relative to us. I am talking about the evolution of man and of the world in general. It's obvious creatures have been extinct because of the fossils we find, and rocks are dated to be 4.5 billion years old.

Wow I had no idea so many people didn't believe in evolution.. I also want to mention that the reason you don't see evolution occuring now is because the "theory" of evolution is that it takes MILLIONS of years for anything to change. The dinosaurs lived for MILLIONS of years, yet we humans have lived thousands. That is why you will not see evolution even if you live to be 100 years old.

People who claim that evolution cannot be true, because it is just a 'theory', for example, are so hilarious. It helps me to understand how such people can believe in god. If there is evidence for something, then it must be false. Therefore, evolution is false. If there is no evidence for something, then it must be true. Therefore, god is true. How funny these people are.

No problem. The facts that are right in front of our faces are distorted. Did you know that the theory of evolution is vastly different from what Darwin first proposed? That is right...it is call NEO-Darwinism...neo=new. Okay...check these out.
First, the info you are shown in your textbooks in school are worded in a sneaky way. It says things like "scientists BELIEVE..." "this MAY SUGGEST that..." and "they are LED TO THE CONCLUSION..." that you really have to pay attention to. Now IF evolution were true, you would HAVE to agree that certain things were true like
1. There would be intermediate species in the fossil records and ones today. How could it be that if we are supposedly still evolving that every other species are finished? So if they were not finished, wouldn't we see things on their way to something else? A transition? Like we (if evolution is true) would at some point "develop" eyes. Do you know that even an eye that is 99% done still won't work? Neither will a limb, or an organ, or even your skin which happens to be the largest and possibly the most complex of all the systems of a body. Can you imagine the mess of a half-done bird? Gross!
2. There would be proof that the DNA rewrites itself without any interference. For, you see, the only things that can alter DNA cause irreversible damage like a virus, radiation, cancer, etc. For that matter, and kind of in this and kind of in the first point, major mutations AT THEIR BEST can only limit or handicap but usually lead to death. Charles Darwin himself said that if the animal cell (as opposed to a plant cell though it happens to be true for both) is ANY more complex than we know now (which at the time consisted of a cell wall and a nucleus but not any idea what was in the nucleus or any of the other structures of DNA like mitochondria for example), "then," Darwin said, "ALL of my theories and ideas about evolution are completely wrong and it proves there is a divine creator (GOD) of some sort." Darwin said that. Also, DNA has tons of information in it. If it cannot write itself or change itself (as mentioned above) then where did it come from? Does a book just write itself? It would be infinitely easier if it could as compared to an actual DNA strand writing itself. Okay, so the info had to come from a "writer" of some sort...a creator.
Many of the ideas in the text books are lies...real lies from real people. No, I am not a paranoid conspiracy theorist. LOL The basic idea (with the pictures) of the embryo of a human mimicing that of evolutionary stages of amoeba to human in all the stages was made up over 150 years ago and the guy even admitted to it before he died. Why do they still publish it? Good question...if you find that out write me. The picture is a fabrication. Something this guy got from looking at a dog fetus picture and trying to make it slightly human. Look at a dog embryo/fetal picture and compare it to that picture (usually seen as 4 pictures in a window box pattern.). All the other things are small bits of evolution. Like the finches of Galapagos Islands. Actually, it is not the islands but the climate that decides the beak shape and length and they differ year to year. The difference is because the islands are far enough apart to be noticeable differences in climate/weather just like it can be snowing where you are and partly sunny 10 miles up the road. Look harder...there is tons of info. The millions of years ago thing? LIE. How do I know? They found Gold Watches in what is supposed to be the Carboniferous Period...supposedly about 300 million years ago. Umm, I don't think watches were made "back then" do you?

I do not believe in evolution any more than I believe in gravity, electricity or any other scientific theory. It is not a matter of belief. Science leaves belief for the religious people. Evolution is science. The theory supporting the observed fact of evolution is more robust than either of the theories of gravity.

Why is it that biblical literalists froth at the mouth over evolution yet say nothing about the germ theory of disease. Diseases in the bible are caused by bad airs and the wrath of god, not germs. Why do the literalists accept germs and not evolution?

I would like to know that too, often it seems that those people go back in time to Darwin's original flawed theory to discount evolution, but surely they realize that the originator of an idea didn't necessarily get it all right, and that it's been refined as we've studied it since then - another reason they state is based on a misunderstanding of the difference between a theory in the non-scientific realm and in the realm of science...since these are not real reasons to discount evolution, they must have something else to counter with, don't they?
And save us from their micro/macro arguments, I have yet to see a creationist who even comprehends the terms.

I hold two doctorates and I sit on a board of regents of a major university....... I arrived at my beliefs after wasting numerous years studying evolution... One day I had to throw my hands up.... The facts are not there.. only theory, much of the evidence can be construed numerous ways.... The education system lied to us,, not just about this but many things..... Historical information was kept from us as well...

Theoretic science is only conjecture, without a control group, we can not interpret the evidence correctly. And our origins are just that... Theory!

I fully realize I am wasting my breath and time... I often see extremely interesting answers given a thumbs down.. And it is evident no one who did this fully thought out their response to a given answer.

As scientist we are obligated, I repeat, obligated to evaluate all the evidence.. Not just what someone tells you too.

Sorry if creationism causes problems for you in your attempt to rationalize you own existence...

But evolutionary theory has numerous problems as well,,, and any real scientist would discover this.

BECAUSE THE FACTS ARE NOT THERE! There is some interesting theory, there are some tantalizing half-proofs, but when you get down to the cellular level the whole mess starts to fall apart. By the time you get down to the molecular level it's just plain preposterous. I might as well say 'why don't you believe in God he's staring you right in the face. It's like not believing in the sun.'

*Deep breath* I apologize, I should not have jumped on you like that. You did not deserve that. Look, there's a great book called Darwin's Black Box that pretty well sums up the argument against evolution (at least evolution as a matter of chance). Evolution makes a lot of sense on the surface, but by the time you get down to the actual nuts and bolts of biology it just gets to be a stretch. I can fathom God, I can't fathom the mathematical impossibility that evolution by chance entails.

Sorry for the rant, thank you for your indulgence.

Bare assertions without support are of no consequence and of no help in understanding or reasoning. The fact of design is obvious like the sun, but evolution is missing so many links. Adaptation is provable, but survival of the fittest doesn't explain the migration of the Artic Tern. And evolution has nothing to do with the physics of the sun or of the location and orientation of the earth to the sun. Surely, a great Designer has loved and blessed us!

The bible says the bat is a bird and that the earth not the sun is the center of our solar system. I can't take any book too seriously that claims the earth is the center of our solar system. What no big view for a creator?

Too may holes in the Theory of Evolution. I don't deny that there are certain adaptions that animals have gone through. However , to say all life evolved from a single cell is ridiculous to the extreme. Were did that cell come from. Were did the matter come from. See you live by faith just like me. Until you can answer that question your belief is a religion.

Sandy,
Your question has no merit. You speak of evolution and then write about the sun. God made the sun.
Where do you see evolution happening today? Show me. You can't because evolution is a theory.

If evolution were true, there would be animals and humans along with plants and everything you can see and not see in varies stages of evolving. Where are they. They are not here because evolution is a myth.><>
