I'd have to say that he is very confused about his priorities. I'd only pursue him if I had the patience. Who knows, if you really like him, a relationship could possibly work out. You would need to give him time to adjust to this if he agreed to a romance with you. He will probably talk about his ex often so brace yourself for that. Hey, it took me 3 years to get over my ex. However I don't like to refer to her like that. We're friends now. I'm now looking for love myself (I'm not insinuating anything though). My point is to give him a chance. I do understand, however, that patience has its limits. Ask him for a date. I know that goes against the "traditional" rules of dating, but he'll probably be too afraid to ask you so you must ask him. Just approach him and ask him sweetly. If he's willing, he'll oblige you. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you succeed.

Sounds like you're both still young and learning how to have relationships. You would be wise to tell him that he has become a bit of a bore on the topic. That we all have had relationships we cherished in the past and moved on. It's okay to remember them fondly but the key to moving on is letting it go and putting the emphasis on what is happening today.

He's probably not worth your time. If he is living in the past, and can't move on, that means he is very insecure. IF you were to ever ween him off of his ex, then he'd do the same thing with you, which is probably why she broke up with him to begin with... HE'S CLINGY. Yes, you may like him, Yes, he may be a great guy, but if he can't move on, then you should.
Please store all emotional baggage in the overhead compartment.

Tell him that you like him, that's what I did! And if he still has feeling for the other girl leave him alone. Obviously he can't make up his mind.
