HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE SHE FINALLY STOPS THE CONSTIPATION AND GETS USED TO THE COWS MILK?

They sure do! My son's pediatrician told me that when you are making the switch from breast milk/formula to regular milk, that you should start them off with a watered down mix. Say you are going to give her 8oz total to drink...you put in 2oz milk to 6oz water for a week. The next week you do 4oz milk to 4oz water...The next 6oz milk to 2oz water and then finally straight milk the next week. Try to stay away from laxatives since they can really do more harm than good to your little one's regularity.....just give her some prunes like the lady above suggested...try to keep the solution as natural as possible. Oh, and on another note, I did the same thing with starting my son on juices as well....it just helps to ease their little systems into things better. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

******EDIT*******

Doctors are going to tell you to give it atleast 3 days of being constipated before worrying about it. If you do the prunes, it should probably take no more than 24 hours for her to make a doodie.

If she has been nursed during her first year, then it makes sense that she's a little constipated when she made the switch to cow's milk. But before you keep feeding her those laxatives, try giving her fruit to loosen her up. Prunes are the best, and avoid bananas, because those will make it worse. Also give her water throughout the day. Hope this helps. Good luck!

My son is now 10 years old. But when he turned 1 year old, I also switched him to cows milk. He got constipated. I took him to the doctor and found out that he was lactose intolerant. So, I then switched my son to lactose-free milk. And I also made sure that he got enough of fruits and veggies during the day. That was to make sure he got the fiber in his diet that he needed. I also offered him water to drink as often as possible instead of Kool-Aid or juices with alot of sugar. I hope that this helps.

When my daughter was constipated her doctor told us me to use 1 tbs dark Karo syrup in every 8oz. juice or milk. Also, another thing that I do know that also helps is prune juice or apple juice. But no more than 12oz a day. I hope this helps.

You may want to discuss this with your babies doctor. Your baby may have an allergy to milk or your doctor may suggest something different. It almost sounds as though she is getting too much iron.

try soy milk, increasing her water intake, and increasing fiber rich foods like apricots and prunes. people don't need cow's milk -only calves do. if your baby is fed a healthy well-rounded diet, there is no need for milk.

My daughter had the same problem. Her doctor told us to give her sugar water.

Boil the water and put about 6 ounces in a bottle/cup with a teaspoon of sugar. Mix it real good but then let it sit until it's room temperature.

It worked for us!

Try a couple extra servings of fruit.
I gave my little one a full meal of prunes and the plumming was all clear in just a few hours.

Feed her prunes. Either baby food or cooked prunes that are run through a food processor.
