Actually it does.I've made my bf to quit drinkin and in return instead of grabbing a beer from the fridge, he tends to binge on food/snacks quite a bit.I guess its the same when someone quits smoking.Coz i think u have the urge to drink/smoke and u wanna fill the void up with something else.If u have gained weight rapidly, perhaps u shud go for medical check up just in case.It could be nothing but if its somethng, least u'll know.Good Luck!

I would say since you aren't binging anymore is why you have gained weight. if you were just drinking (not binge drinking) and quit it seems you would have lost weight seeing how alcohol has lots of calories...good for you for quiting though..stick with it and just try to eat healthy

That's why. You're replacing one thing with the other Try picking up a hobbie. Need ideas? Whatch WHAT you eat WHEN you eat. Get into sports.
The main thing is to ocupy the time you use to eat, by replacing it with something opposite. It's hard, I know. ... A journey begins with a first step. Congratulations on stopping the drinking abuse.
Stay well.

Yes, because alcohol suppressed your appetite and now it's back. Continue eating a nutritious diet with lots of water and juices. Have some fresh fruits and veggies (carrot, celery) when you have the munchies. You should be proud of yourself. Add some exercise when you get a chance. Take care.

Alcohol turns into sugar in the body, after you quit the body wants something to get high on therefore many people eat a lot of sweets to get that "happy" feeling

This often happens as you were to busy drinking to eat properly and now that you are eating properly you may put on some weight. Watch what you eat and exercise to help control your weight. Congrats on beating your alcoholism though.
