If you are going to listen to music it is best to pick something you like. There is a limited selection of songs specifically about poker, and they suck.

If you are playing online Yahoo! Launchcast is a good service. You pick the kind of music you like and it makes you a personalized radio station based on your tastes. If it plays a song you don't like you can tell it that you don't like that and skip the song. The program learns what you like and adjusts accordingly.

If you are playing in real life, be very careful about listening to that iPod. While the music may inspire you or relax you, it may also prevent you from hearing a very important verbal tell or miss some action that is key to the hand. Unless you are a good professional player, I say leave the music at home.

Personally, I suppose being attentive to track is distracting whilst gambling. Say you will have a mediocre hand, however the track has you going, you may also take possibilities you in any other case would not. Also, the fewer you will have occurring internally, the extra you'll pay awareness to the opposite gamers and their movements. That is without doubt one of the keys to poker, realize your opponent. If they are jabbering away after which get quiet, you already know some thing is up. Conversely, if you are being attentive to track then take your buds out, they have got extra knowledge.

I prefer some good smooth jazz or trance while I play. Poker is stressful enough as it is, I can get overly hyped up if I listen to something too hardcore.
You might search for "tommy angelo" if you are interested in a CD of poker songs.

I personally like to have many different styles of music available on my music player when I play. If I go on a big swing (either way, up or down) I change the style of music. I originally did it because it helped stabilize me emotionally and didn't let me get to caught up in recent events. I have more control of myself now, but it is still a nice system to use.

I listen to the radio on my creative sen vision m while I play cards. Sometimes some hip hop, or some classic rock.
