Warm-ups, warm-ups, warm-ups!! If you are switching voice parts, especially to a high part you will need to make sure you are properly warming yourself up. As your voice warms up a little, push the range higher with your warm-ups. Scales work really well for this!

The other thing you will need to be aware of when singing higher is where your neck is. Most young men when trying to sing high push their chin up (as if they are looking up) or push it out. What you NEED to do is make sure your chin stays down, parallel to the ground (not all the way to your chest). Because you're pushing your voice a little higher you are going to want as less tension on your throat as possible. Another thing that helps is to gently hold your hand on your throat when you're singing as a reminder to keep it relaxed.

The last thing that is imperative for you to be a successful tenor is to make sure you are deep breathing. The breath is an essential to supporting your voice (especially when singing high!). If you do not know already how to really do this, sometime when you're warming up "plie" or squat while you sing. What it does is lower your center of gravity to force your body to take a nice deep breath. To work on breathing you can also do breathing specific exercises: breathe in for 4 counts, hold it for 4 counts, exhale on a hiss for 4 counts; as your breath strengthens exhale for 6,8,10,12, etc... Doing these exercises will improve your breath support and control. The entire time you are exhaling poke your tummy to make sure it is hard and controling the air flow.

Hope you got all of that! If you need any more help feel free to email me! Good luck on the switch!

Sarah's answer is good. I would like to add that if you are really serious about singing to find a good voice teacher. Preferably a tenor who will know exactly what you are going through. Since you are still in high school, work hard but don't push your voice.
