last night, that my boyfriend would be protected on his long work commute.

Most of the time I pray a certain pattern cuz my family often prays daily every morning as they drop us off to school and work.
However, when I'm down or I just in a mood for thinking something very deep I'd pray to God. I don't pray to Him like 'O Almighty Father blahblahbah' (and that's something cuz I'm Catholic) but I pray to Him like a person who wants to be your friend, a person who is always there to help you in times of fear and doubt. Cuz that what God wants to be for you. Your friend, not your dictator. His commandments are a sign of His love not power or rule.

I speak to God in the same manner as I write these words to you now. That is, I have a plain conversation with Him each day, usually out under the stars late at night as my family sleeps. My prayers are conversations that follow a pattern. I start every prayer with the following: "Most merciful God, not my will, but yours be done." I repeat that phrase often during my prayers. Sometimes I will do so for tens of times just to quiet my mind and make it open to hearing from my Creator.
Use the following pattern in all your prayers and you will see them answered: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. See the links below for more information. (acronym: ACTS)

God hears all the prayers of the righteous. But consider the following:
A Christian hunter is hunting bears in the woods. While walking up a hill he grabs a branch for leverage and it breaks sending the hunter tumbling down the hill, gun flying off elsewhere. When the hunter dusts himself off he sees a huge bear charging him. The hunter begins running, but trips and falls, landing on his knees. Seizing the opportunity, and being a good Christian, the hunter begins to pray, "Lord, make this bear a Christian."
The woods are quiet, the hunter turns and, Hallelujah! He sees the bear on his knees, paws together, praying! Listening, he hears the bear praying, "Father, bless this food to my body."
The key point here is that God answers prayers of the righteous, but the answer you get may not be the answer you want, BUT it will always be the right answer.

I prayed last night when I was in bed. I prayed for my prayers to be answered, for my family and my fiances family to be protected and helped in any way. I prayed for the poor souls in purgatory. I also prayed and ask God to forgive any sins I and my fiance do. I pray for many different things. When I pray to God I say something like Please God answer my prayers, etc. etc. etc.

I prayed this morning - I thanked God for giving me another day and for giving me my breakfast (actually I pray at each meal, thanking the Lord for providing for me and my family)
I also prayed this morning that God would be with me throughout the day and help me to live a life that is pleasing to him. I pray like I am talking to my Father.

Prayer is talking to God. Just like you talk to a friend on the phone. I prayed today and thanked God for His goodness to me.

Our church is having a tent revival for six weeks. I was at home tonight listening to the broadcast on the radio. At the end of the evening, the pastor speaking offered a beautiful and powerful prayer for our community and for all of us to have revival, to be filled with the power of God and for those who don't know the Lord to come to the Lord. I prayed fervently with him.
