why did he make the universe so big when he knew we would not need or really use it?

You dare to question the almighty God. He made it because He (yes, God has a penis) could. One of the other Gods might have dared him or something. You are only using the questioning part of your brain. Sin! Sin! Only use the obeying part of your brain from now on and maybe God will let you into Heaven someday. God invented us to be robots for Him. Our damned brains must have evolved or something into this wanting to know crap. Just trust God with everything and if you don't know what He wants, ask someone who knows. There are a lot of people who will tell you. But stop thinking! It is not allowed. You are liable to wake people up. Is that what you want? Thinkers and questioners are very difficult to control and they are hard to scare with just stories. Give your brain a rest and let God take over. Who needs reality when you have God. Aahh, that's better. What was the question?

Where would you propose he put all those stars? God did a lot of things to keep us wondering. Would you propose that God made the ends of space and the universe a couple of miles ourside of our solar system? Scientists would be scrambling to see what is beyond the edge of the universe.
I think it is a pretty good design, but whatever. Maybe you think you could do better. Oh...and who ever said that we are God's only creation? He has been around a long time (forever) and is not bound by time. Do you think we are His only project ever?

That's an arrogant question.
Why would it be for our needs???
Assuming we lived in ignorance of the rest of the world, why would he build other countries if you only live in (wherever you are from)???
There is sooooooo much we don't know about the universe and life in general. We could be a bit of fluff on a Giants shoulder or we could be in a huge fish bowl being watched.....

We humans do not really need all the universe we see but at lease we can hope there is a heaven for all of us.

he didn't, he made a dome covering the flat earth that he created at the same time. There is no such thing as space, it doesn't say so in the Bible.

Time and Space are not limited to the Omnipresent, Omniscience, Omnipotent God. It may look too fathomless to you, but God is greater then all creation.

think of ''space' as gods body [ie see a tree]
then see the things hanging off the tree as fruit
[ie hanging in space [sepperated bodies ie as grains of sand]
god makes the fruit be , leaving plenty of space in between
sure we cant see the tree now
we see only space but know where the nothing is is yet god [like as an unseen tree
sustaining us only to see gods fruits [;life]
that when seen in gods light of seeing are but as grains of sand yet all living potentialities of gods omnipotant being being seen.
light though unseen allows us to see the light sustains all life to live [god /good /love =light.
