I have a pavillion 6653c that I had left for years now for a newer xp pc. I have decided to put this relic to use by trying to store all my music cd in the hard drive but forgot my password to open windows 98. Can I get support to accomplish this. If any one has a clue please contact me.I really need help.

AARON S is CORRECT.

Remove Power Cord before Opening Case.
Remove BIOS Battery, Waite approximately 5 Minuets. Replace Every thing.
Turn on your WIN 98.
If it still will not Start with out password, Try going into BIOS and Delete password, Save and exit.
Try Restarting. Should work.

Good luck.

Just hit the esc key when it asks you for a password.... Umm its been so long it might just be enter...

If its old and dont have any data on it, take it out of the old pc, set the jumper on the back to slave, (just a piece of plastic that you move to different pins). then just open your new computer case, find a open IDE cable, (most likely the middle of the one your using for your current drive. (like what you unplugged it from,) and plug it in, WITH the computer off of course.... Plug in the power to the drive, and boot, you should see a new drive letter, right click and format... (NTSF is for drives over 100gigs) so if its smaller use FAT..

open the case and locate a small silver battery, looks just like a large watch battery. remove it for a few minutes and allow the BIOS memory to drain. replace the battery and voila...you are back in.
