Of course not! If we pullout now, then they will attack us in our homeland. Also, there will be more chaos in Iraq with a civil war. I know people are dying right now (a little more than 3000 dead) but that is war. In war you are always going to have death. Vietnam you had 50k +, etc. However, I don't agree with why we entered this war. I support our troops, Bush and this country. God bless this great nation!

What do you guys think? pullout or stay? and why?

Stay, at least to see if this new tactic is going to work. I notice that one of your answers is "like the pot calling the kettle black". They suggest that you use rational thinking (you did) and actually their suggestion is irrational.

I remember talking to my family when the thing started. I thought we had real reasons to go in, though mostly not those stated (and not oil, either--I'm so tired of hearing that BS) but I thought we went in too soon with too few and the wrong force structure. I can't really fault the administration for being grossly overcautious on the WMD mess, either. Better safe than sorry.
That said, I also have to say the fuss over 4 years in Iraq seems to ignore the point that it's an Iraqi problem and will ultimately be solved by Iraqis. Their government has only been in place for one year, and it's absurd to think only of our four years over there and not take into consideration that the Iraqi government have a very complex situation to deal with and they've only been on the job for one year. It would have been better had the administration expanded and restructured the military and they've certainly made tactical mistakes, but we do have vital interests in the region, we can deal with the situation if Washington will get off the dime, and the Iraqis are making progress both in military/police and political terms. I think we're obligated to stay.

The US never should have even entered into Iraq!! It was not anything that concerned the US Gov't at the time. Now however, due to the fact that the troops are already over there doing their best for the country, I think that we should stop being such wimps about the whole thing and send everything we can over there! This should end the war in a very short time, and show that we will not tolerate any more of that type of crap from dictator-type governments from other countries. As I said first, the US should have just minded its own business from the beginning, but now that we are there lets just do it and get it over with so all the men and women can finally come home!

Pulling out will only show weakness on our part to the rest of the world. I think that will heighten our risk for attack. So far, while many people may refuse to admit it, Bush has scared away the terrorists. I think it is irrational to make a deadline for pulling out. Hopefully the troop surge will work and help to stabilize the region. Those who immediately shot down the idea are not being very optimistic for ourselves, our troops. or Iraq, which is key in calming down the region. It very well may have been unnecessary to enter Iraq, but it is too late now. Isn't it? Let's finish what we started. I couldn't agree with your points more.

first off i respect your point of view because it seems obvious that you are just repeating what someone else has told you. yes i think we should leave iraq asap! why? well i will try and be concise and brief, which will be hard because iraq is a very complex and precarious situation. first off our occupation only postpones the inevitable. for all of his evils the hardhanded rule of saddam hussein kept the sectarian division and violence in check in that country. now that we have removed the leadership iraq has become a country destined fro civil war. the only thing that will prevent this is to have another hardhanded ruthless ruler in office which the united states doesnt want to do(right now) throughout history the continued occupation of a foreign nation has always resulted in negative consequences for occupier. so for those that say we need to (STAY THE COURSE) well the course will be the same. the only question is how long do we plan on staying in iraq and delaying their destiny. only the iraqi people can decide if and when they really want to have a democracy and if they are willing to pay the price for that democracy or do they want the same ole same ole that they had for generations aka ruthless leadership and stability. the current soviet union is a prime example of how hard it is to force democracy on a country not willing to pay the price for it. many of the freedoms that the soviet people have wanted are now being forgotten and abandoned by mr. putin. the people there are seemingly willing to accept that type of leadership again because that is really all most of them ever knew. the same principle applies to iraq. just watch and see!!!!!!!!!

Here are a couple of facts you should know:

1. U.S. sold vast quantities of war supplies to Iran in 1954 after regime change by CIA replaced Mossadgeh (opposed to foreign corporate hegemony on Iranian oil ) with Reza Sha.

2. Ayatoholla Kohnemni disbanded 70% of military personnel and war supplies. Iraq attacks in the 80s with U.S. bought biological weapons and small arms (surprising they did not find these* weapons).

3. Bay of Pigs was a disaster but what was its primary goal? Regime change.

This war in Iraq is the sum/result of arms industry, oil, and our plutocracy. The troops are dieing but large corporations such as Halliburton rack in the profits, why would over 100+ large transnational corporations who supply war supplies want this war to end? War ends the demand for arms decreases. Take a guess how much these corporations donate to political campaigns, take a guess how much money is placed in off shore accounts, how much they pay lobbyists, how often their representatives are present at dinner parties, meetings, etc. The Marxists of the past are rolling in their graves, they were right democracy/capitalism will fall to large monopolies.

And here you are spoon feed by news corporations with political agendas to believe the war is for "freedom" to rid the world of "terrorists", but in reality something beyond your comprehension (until further education) and the scope of this answer is taking place.

Please take the time and read about the history of the modern Middle East, please take the time and read a book or two on our social/political system. Take a course in critical thinking, take a course in sociology.

I still cannot believe we have a former head of Halliburton as our vice-president. Say what you want "he is not associated" "no connection" you are only fooling yourself. President Eisenhower warned us in the 50s in his farewell address of a growing cancer, an epidemic of vast proportions but today its beyond repair the merger of industry and the military.

This all could of been avoided if reason, logic, research, investigation was used by the American people instead of blind belief in our leader, and a thirst for blood and revenge. The American people are nothing more than the modern day equivalent of the Roman mob. Easily swayed by political ads, posters, rhetoric filled speech, bias, unrelated issues, and merits.

We are hostage to the few, the wealth, and the large corporations. The same people who control the news channels (ex Murdock), fund politicians, and will eventually completely control foreign and domestic policy and the funny thing is the American people will believe their voice is calling for those changes.

I tell you this not because I hate America, but because I love it with all my heart. Educate yourself erase your ignorance and help.

Let me tell you this kill millions and millions of terrorists, actually lets say we somehow killed every single terrorist. I can tell you that it will be to no effect. You have not killed the idea behind the action. An idea cannot be killed, bombed, or stabbed. The hypothetical purge will be written in history books and a few years later reading a history book the idea will once again spark in the mind of a child.

To stop terrorism is to aid the middle east and around the world with an education system that would rival future civilizations.

So glad you see that we should stay and waste money. How about you supply the money as you see it as a just war. Why aren't you there fighting if you believe in it so much.

We entered this war for Bush's ego, we are spending a hell of a lot of money for no reason at all, and like the Viet nam war we are not wanted and we can't win, so we should just pull out and say the hell with it.

What are you talking about when you say they will attack in our homeland. Don't you get it, they don't have weapons of mass destruction!!! They hardly have weapons. That's the whole deal here. They can't attack us, how the hell are they going to get over here, walk all the way over the water, I don't think the sea is going to part for them, even though Passover is coming up soon. Please think before you write something, try and make some sense out of what you are writing and thinking. I'm not trying to be nasty, just trying to get you to think about what you are saying. This country may be a great nation, but Bush is the worst president we have ever had, read the poles, he has managed to make Nixon look good and that's something I never thought i would live to see.

lochmess, they are already here my friend, just waiting for a soft treehugging, dope smoking, bleeding heart liberal to be in the white house because nothing will be done about it,
just like nothing was done the first time the WTC was attacked, and nothing was done when the U.S. Cole was attacked and countless americans killed in embassies around the world, this all happened when the last democrat was in office. the same guy that cut the military in half, we wouldn't be stretched so thin if we still had the military that Reagan and George SR. built.
Weak people get attacked as do weak countries.

I say God bless the US too but disagree with you about Iraq. The Muslim fanatics want us out of the middle east so they can have there way THERE, not here. We lost in Vietnam but the Vietnamese commies didn't follow us here to kill us. Once we leave, the Iraqis and Muslims in general will be forced to deal with the fanatics and I think they will be better at it than we were.

Give those people 6 months to take control of their destiny or set up our own gov't there.

Then divide the nation into a sunni region and a shiite region (the kurds already have their region).

Give them equal access to oil.

Take about a billion barrels out of the ground for our trouble.

Their regional govts will be established in about 2 yrs, and when they are, pull out.
