how do you get your boyfriend to clean his teeth?

my boyfriends a great guy but the only thing that is off putting atm, is his teeth. the problem is that i dont think he cleans them. he already told me that he hates the taste of mint and he hasnt been to the dentist for a few years... he always has that white gunky stuff on them and he often smells of morning breath. i dont know how to tell him or hint at him without hurting his feelings. any advise please?

Just tell him hes gross and you will not kiss him till he starts cleaning his teeth. Some times the truth hurts and if yuor worried about hurting his felling just keep in mind your only trying to help him.

First of all-why is he your boyfriend? A person that don't take care of their personal hygiene is WHACK. If he has germs r gum disease he is tranfering that 2 u when u guys kiss. Tell him u r concerned about the gunky stuff on his teeth and he should get his teeth cleaned his smile would b alot brighter.

think of a good way like tell him you want a "dentist buddy" just like it's done with diets and exercise, book an appointment for the both of you before telling him so he has to go .
he has to brush his teeth to stay healthy , bad teeth /gums may cause serious problems for him now or later
if he hates mint there are other flavors out there or just use salt and water

some people would say to tell him, hey, look at this new toothpaste and toothbrush i heard about, you gotta try it, i love it, etc....

but, i go for the direct approach, if you want to be with me, you have to brush and floss everyday.

Invite him to lunch with you and a friend of yours. Have your friend tell the both of you a prefabricated story about this guy that she recently went on a date with and his horrible teeth and breath and how it was a total turn off, you just need to agree with her the whole time and say things like EWWW and Oh God I hate it when guys do that! He'll get the message. Stop and think...if you heard him or his best friend mention this chick who wouldn't stop yawning and how it grossed them out...you'd be more aware about when you yawn around him.

tell him the truth but be sure to have a plan to help him fix the problem first.

make an appointment, asap, with your dentist on a day you can take him there. make sure he goes.

make him a Tooth Rejuvenation Kit:a new toothbrush, a variety of non mint (flavorless maybe) toothpaste & mouthwash, some dental floss, a tongue scraper, sugarless gun (cinnamin?), etc.

let him know that this has been bothering you and that he has to change his ways. stay firm. don't be embarassed or feel awkward. it is your job as his gf to let him know how much you care but it needs to be fixed.

How about buying him some orange or lemon flavored toothpaste and mouthwash to match along with a new battery operated toothbrush. Crest makes the toothpaste and the toothbrush which is pretty cheap and mouthwash comes in all kinds of flavors. Give it to him as a "just because I care gift" and he may get the hint without you needing to say more.

i used to be scared to tell my boyfriend to go freshen his breath when he needed to, but its' something that you should get used to doing since it could affect your relationship. If he loves you, he will understand. just remind him of the gum diseases he can be getting by not taking care of his mouth properly. If he doesn't like the mint flavor, try cinnamon and tell him it goes away in a few minutes any way, but it needs to be taken care of because you cannot stand it any more and it's hard for you to get close to him because a dirty mouth is all you can think of.
Good luck, don't be scared. just re-assure him that you would want him to tell you if you needed to freshen your breath so that you two could kiss each other and not worry about the smell.

You can buy him a tube of toothpaste in a flavor other than mint- often children's toothpaste has other flavors & then when you give it to him saying that you thought he might like it, it will open the lines of communication to the problem. I think that you have to say something, you are probably not the only person who notices.
