I am going next Wednesday for an eye appointment because I think I need glasses. My friend told me I would have to wait a year before getting contact lenses and would have to wear glasses til the year is up. Is this true?

I am hoping its not!

Unless you have certain conditions you should be able to wear contacts comfortably and as soon as you are told you need correction.

It is not.

Contact lenses are the same as glasses except they don't have the frame.

Your doctor will tell you the same thing. You can order the contact lenses instead of the glasses if the doctor feels you need them and you don't have an eye condition that would prevent you from wearing contact lenses.

Even if you have to were glasses not necessary that you should were for 1 year. I never heard that you should were glasses before wearing contact lenses. i am 80% sure that no need of wearing glasses before wearing contact lenses.

I believe your friend is mistaken. The only way that I'm aware of is if your eyes are really bad or have other issues with your eyes. To be on the safe side call eye doctor and just ask. If u think it would be embassing don't tell them who u are.

that is false you can get contact lenses first and you don't have to wear glasses at all if you don't want to.....

Of course that's not true. You can get contacts right away of you wish. You can get them in colors too!
