Try checking for viruses, it could be the culprit. The virus prevents you from seeing your computer's activity, so it won't display the task manager.

there are many viruses and spy ware that will cause that. i have had it happen to me before. go and get this free program http://www.spybot.info/ and run it to look for spy ware. as for virus protection i would hope you have some, if not you should look around and get some. if you cant get the program manger to run you can replace it with killprocess which is a free program http://orangelampsoftware.com/ that is very good.

Probaly lag.
Best bet is to restart...and try again if it stil ldoesnt you might have a virus of some sort.
