Please forgive me if this is too elementary. I don't know what's confusing you.
Have you studied the verb "ir" (to go)?
I go - (yo) voy
you go - (tu) vas
he/she/You go- (el/ella/Ud.) va
we go - (nosotros) vamos
they/You - (ellos/ellas/Uds.) van
"I go" can be said as "Yo voy" or just "Voy."
Spanish has very few contractions, but "al" is one of them. It's short for "a el." So "Voy al cine" = "Voy a el cine" (except they don't have the option to not contract like we do in English. It would be improper to say "a el;" it should be "al."
Voy = I am going
al = to the
cine = movies
It can be confusing because "voy" and "yo voy" mean the same thing. Also "voy" can mean "I go" or "I am going."
I hope this clears it up. It will help if you practice to your self:
Voy a casa. Mama voy a la tienda. Nosotros vamos a escuela. If you are not sure you're getting it right, write a few basic sentences like those above and ask your teacher to check them for you to make sure you don't learn it wrong!

What's exactly what you don't get? How to form the sentences?
To make that kind of sentences you just have to know the verbs in present tense for each pronoun (yo, tu, él, etc.), prepositions (a, de, en, entre, etc.) and the complement (the place - el cine, la casa).
The sintax is very simple:
It's Noun + verb + preposition + comp.
I recommend that you try an immersion method. This is, try to use Spanish in your life, if you like participating in message boards, try reading one in Spanish, or listening to songs. That helps a lot.
I hope I answered your question, but if not, just form a new one and I'll help you.

I saw that you already have several good answers. What you need is to have more practice with people who know the language well, because just to put you right in one instance is not going to help you much.
Aunque no soy española, puedo entender, leer, escribir y hablar español (castellano). Si quieres, escribeme, así que aprendémoslo juntos.

Try the BBC language website - good one. Keep trying, we live here in Spain and my very patient spanish neighbours are excellent at teaching us the odd word....trouble is we always have to double check they are the right ones if you know what I mean!

what exactly dont you get?
if you are talking about "where" you are going, then it's not really that hard. its just learning the present conjugation of "ir" plus the word "a" and the place where your going to; "el cine" for example.
ir conjugates 6 ways in the present tense like this: voy, vas, va, vamos, (vais??), van
"voy al cine" means "i'm going to the movies," "i go to the movies," or "i do go to the movies."
"vas al cine" means "you go to the movies," etc.
"va al cine" means "he/she/it/you(formal) go(es) to the movies," etc.
"vamos al cine" means "we go to the movies," etc.
"(vais??) al cine" means "you-all go to the movies," etc.
"van al cine" means "they/y'all go to the movies,"etc.
if you are learning the "ir + a + infinitive" then it's a little different. It makes reference to the future.
"voy a ir al cine" means specifically "I'm going to go to the movies."
and so on...
