so, my bf's dad is getting remarried. his dad has mentioned and hinted that his son wants me there, but as of yet, he has yet to talk about it to me. oh, im also moving so i will probably be in another state by the wedding. but, iv already told him that i would love to come visit n all, so.....
His whole family likes me, n most think it would be a good idea to have me there, if only to keep him cool (he really does not want the wedding to happen) n i think all of the siblings like me also, which is saying a lot, since after they get married, there will be an acclection of 11.
i also might move in with them for the summer, while my parents move.

oh, and the main reason his dad wants me there, i think, is to persaude him to be the best man.

the main problem is that we really hant defined our relationship after i move; its 2 states away!

Considering he isn't in favor of the wedding in the FIRST place, he probably won't mention it to you at all. And if he finally does, it will possibly be too late for you to make arrangements. I would mention it, if I were you. Also, even though he obviously doesn't have any say in the marriage, he will still probably attend the wedding. I'm sure he would rather have you there to keep him occupied than to sit there by himself through the whole ceremony and reception. As far as being the best man, I wouldn't try to persuade him one way or another. If I didn't support a marriage, I wouldn't agree to be the maid of honor either...and I certainly wouldn't volunteer! Just bring it up and let him know that you support him either way. He'll appreciate your concern.

I seem to hear in reluctance in what you are writing to go along with this plan. You don't seem to be sure that this guy is the guy you might marry later on and you don't want to go move in with him like he is definitely the guy you want.

What would be the possibility of you coming back for the wedding and only staying two or three days either in a separate room at your boyfriend's house or at a motel?
This would serve the purpose and not put you in an uncomfortable position.

This doesn't sound like the family or the spouse I'd want stay involved with. What is it about their disfunctionality that attracts you?

Two states away is a small distance compared with the other world they seem to inhabit. But if that other world seems to attract you....

Life is too short to live with regret. Sit down your b/f and ask him if he wants you to go. Listen to what he says, he is probably too shy to ask so ask yourself. He will probably be glad you asked and it may cheer him up to know he is with you during the wedding. Ask!!! if he is shy he will be grateful you did. Enjoy and have fun Heather

Yes, go. don't try to talk him into best man though, it's not your place ,,, just between son and pop. Do you like the son? Do you love him?

Bring it up casually, like "Who are you bringing to your dad's wedding?" If he says no one or names someone else, it will make it easy for you to move.

Just wait and see if you get an invitation... it's not up to you. If they want you there- they will invite you.
