What is the difference between bodywash and shower gel?

Shower Gel lathers but it doesn't clean as much as body wash can..I think shower gel mainly just adds scent while Body wash really cleanses your body..

I've always understood that bodywash is strictly to wash the body and shower gel can be used both for body and hair washing.
