My daughter informed me that she wants to have a red carpet wedding since her and her fiance loves movies. She is talking about wanting to rent a movie theater. Have red carpet rolled down the aisle. Have a cd that will show pictures of her fiance and her through out their lives and have music playing on it prior to wedding. then at the receptionist have the red/white popcorn buckets filled with candy that you might get at a movie. Set up a possible buffet style dinner. Have her wearing a cream color dress. With brides maids and best man wearing black. She said they are undecided about, but the groom might wear the same color as best man. With everyone carrying red roses. I honestly dont know what to make of her newest idea. I am wondering if this is a wedding or a production?n she has totally stunned me with her newest idea for her wedding.

Actually, it's a pretty tasteful yet fun way of them expressing their personalities. It sounds like it would be an entertaining wedding to attend and a cool wedding for them to plan.

While it may not agree with your idea of a wedding, it would be wise for you to take a step back and let your daughter and her fiance enjoy their wedding planning and their wedding day. It will be something they will always remember, and no doubt she will be grateful to you for not giving her a hard time about it. Just try to be as gracious as possible and keep reminding yourself that their wedding is about them.

LOL, well you certainly have to give her an A for originality! I can honestly say I've never heard of one like that! I think it's a novel idea tho, but my question is about renting the movie theater? Where would you set up the buffet? Inside each individual theater there's all those rows of seats? I love the idea of buckets filled with the movie candy and maybe a popcorn machine in a corner with the boxes of popcorn as favors or something.
The slideshow can be done with powerpoint software and is very entertaining. My nephew had this done and played it at the rehearsal supper the night before the wedding, but I think all the guests would enjoy seeing it. I did one for my daughter's college graduation.
I think it has definite possibilities to make into a very unforgettable wedding!
Good luck for a great wedding!!

Actually, my husband and I had the same idea! We decided not to go with it because we had too little time to plan. I think renting out a movie theatre may be a bit expensive, because a simple hall will do.

Here are some other ideas that we came up with:

*Instead of numbering the tables, have them named after/labeled with romantic movie titles (The "Gone with the Wind" table, the "It Happened One Night" table, etc)

*Have a cake with film reels as the tiers and little Oscar figurines as the bride and groom

*Have the gifts for guests be a CD of famous movie love songs ("It Had to Be You" by Frank Sinatra, "

It could end up being cheaper than the completely traditional route because you can buy things like the popcorn buckets in bulk, though it will be labor intensive. It sounds like a blast!

One concern: if the wedding is red carpet, it would be appropriate that it's black tie. Is this going to sit well with your guests?

It sounds like a blast! I would go with the "classic romance" movie style. Casablanca comes to mind. Maybe you could find a celebrity look a like that you can have your pictures taken with.

A great idea for a wedding invitation would be for them to dress up and have photos taken and have it look like a movie case. "The Wedding of Jane and John" Staring Jane Doe and John Smith Directed By, so on and so on.

I love the CD at the beginning! Kind of like the "movie trivia" or coming attractions. I think it's a really cute idea. Tell her to have a lot of fun with it!

I think it is a neat idea. It is something that will be remembered by all who attend. This is her happy day, so try to remember that. You might think it is weird or silly, but what makes one happy does not always seem sane to the other. The pictures showing on the screen will be a neat touch and so would the red carpet. I can come up with lots of cool little things to go along with it. Use your imagination and let her and him pretend as if they are movie stars for one day. It is their day. Have fun with her planning it and make it memorable!

Movies are something they enjoy together, a wedding should reflect the personal tastes of the couple or they would all be the same boring and bland events. I think this is a great idea for a wedding.

this is such a cool idea! but remind her to keep it wedding - like (don't go soo over board with the movie idea). this will definately be a wedding that nobody would forget! she has some great thoughts!

Here are some ideas for reception:

decorate with loads of balloons — in shiny gold and silver. Think balloon clusters, balloon arches, balloon columns, and balloon drops.
Echo red drapes with centerpieces of dark red roses.
Make sure the lighting is soft and intimate. Use candles. (And keep in mind, if any event calls for professional event lighting, this is it). .
Dess tables with heavy, elegant cloths in black or dark red, and sprinkle with glass "globs" and top hat and stars confetti.
Dress walls with oversized vintage movie posters,
Name the tables after Old Hollywood screen stars: Spencer Tracey, Katherine Hepburn, Clark Gable, Grace Kelley, Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, William Powell, Audrey Hepburn, James Stewart, Ingrid Bergman.
Or name them after Hollywood streets: Hollywood Boulevard, Vine Street, Sunset Boulevard, Rodeo Drive, Melrose Avenue, Sunset Strip, Santa Monica Boulevard.
Dress your flower girl in Shirley Temple style.

Have your invitations designed to resemble tickets for a show

have fun with this and run with the idea! God bless :)

I think it sounds like a ton of fun! I certainly give her points for creativity. You asked if it is a wedding or a production? I would say that it would be both, who says weddings must be traditional, I love her idea!

Well it's her wedding...it could be loads of fun. Get in on it with her and have some fun to. Don't miss out because it isn't what you though she would do. I think it sounds great. Lots of people have themed weddings..it's just how they want to celebrate their special day.

I think that it's a great idea! Most people don't have guts to have a wedding like that. we all play it safe. At least people wont be forgetting that wedding in a hurry, wont be just another wedding.
If that is her personality to be out there and spontaneous and her fiance is happy, you be happy to. She is who she is and encourage it.
Hope it all goes well, it will be great!!!!!!
