I feel that people are not taking marriage as serious. People marry their partner for all the wrong reasons. Meaning their reason is that their partner is fun to hang out with. The fail to see the big picture and ask themself the right question.(is this person going to compliment me in more ways then just having fun. religiously, morals.)

People are changing, the way they believe and what they believe, so yes, marriage is a result is changing. By the divorce rate alone I would also speculate that the changes in society have been negative ones. Family values and a general sense of morality have been sliding for awhile now. I'm not gonna say that one's persons choice is wrong and mine are right, but something has gone terribly wrong somewhere.
I think the biggest problem is our society is on sexual overdrive. If the sex isn't good enough we start looking for better with someone else. It's in media, it influences are children, saturates are thoughts, and is over emphasized in general.
Back in the day, 50+ yrs ago, these problems hardly existed. They happened but not with the frequence they do now. It all comes back to the point that we focus too much on physical satisfaction and not on nuturing each other in other ways. Lifting up and supporting our partners, sticking by them through thick and thin, being ok with your spouse as your best friend even if he wasn't the guy you were most attracted to. Today those kind of notions would be considered rare, if not completely foreign.
In conclusion, I think things will get alot worse before they get better. Eventuall society will hit bottom and then some kind of revolutionary uptake will begin and hopefully some kind of a better society will emerge. Anyway, that's what I'm hoping will happen anyway.

because of the fact we live in a society now that pushes marriage and dedication. we are raised on account that toddlers that the purpose in existence is to advance up, get a marvelous interest, get married and have childrens. concern is ... that existence isn't for all people!! It would not recommend there is a few thing incorrect with you on account which you do no longer prefer the entire marriage and childrens concern ... a marvelous type of persons do no longer!! only determine you're chuffed and that's all that concerns!

Well lets start with the facts if you get married its supposed to be out of love that we do this.how-ever we live in a human world one built out of lies and desepstions and half-truths.Where on the other-hand if we would only remember we were all brought here by (GODS) divine innervention. How much better our lives would be.Because nobody truely has the right to minipulate any one elses dream. And after all is that not why we look for that perfect soul-mate.

So certainly yes. the moral fabric of our society is really dying out and at an extremely fast rate...so everything that morality and dignity influences is dying out too. among the most of them are marital related issues...there is the concept of a "business marriage", and "promised marriages" ...which hinder committment and love....there are more that 70% of marriages today that doesnt even scrape the iceberg of committment and love...ppl marry for financial reasons...and its just sick ...cuz marriage is supposed to be a union of two souls and society has turned it into a union of bankbooks and cheque accounts...its just really absurd to think about. as for the whole "cheating" concept...come on...plz...if 14 year olds in my school are making pornographic videos and "actually want to consider a pornstar as a career"....then cheating is nothing compared to that...and if there iz no connection or love in a marriage...partners will sooo tend to cheat...whoever came up wit the open marriage idea...should b electricuted, shot, and fed to crocs...cuz they've just brought more distress to "almost extinct" words of committment and love...mind u ...its not just the men...or just the women...i think society as a whole should b blamed...cuz society allows the "new trends" to break its social and moral chain....

Marriage is an institute of God, therefor I believe our faith in God has slipped over the years causing divorce, infidelity, homosexuality, premarital sex, etc.. and its becomming exceptable..like in the old days when women didnt wear pants only dresses..sign of the times , Did you know that in america..50% of WOMEN are single. The cost of divorce has risen, faith in our partners has gone to hell, and people take the easy way out anymore..since marriage is supose to be till death do us part doesnt that mean we stick together till one of us die..? Or better yet the vows should say due to the "sign of the times" Instead of till death do us part...it should say till we get sick of each other or you cheat on me or I find out your really gay..?

yes it does because it has become an option unlike before when it is for keeps and is the rule rather than the exception.
our fast pace world and disposable mentality is mirrored in all aspect of our society. Instant marriage, instant divorce, one night stand, etc, but there are exceptions of course.

No but i think theres less and less long term relationships and more divorse because people are changing. They lack loyalty and morality. Also life is getting more expensive these days which means more working, more stress, increased irritability, fighting, and you just stop getting along.
