Get a bunch of people to donate items for a mega yard sale. When I was in high school, I needed $2,000 to go on a mission trip to Russia. I collected stuff from friends for about a month and made $2,300 in 2 days.
The only drawback was that I had a lot of junk left over.

For Relay for Life (a fund raiser organized by the American Cancer Society inside small communities) we always get the committee and team captains to raid their garages and whatnot for items they wouldn't mind just selling and set up a giant garage sale at a local bank that allows us to use their parking lot for free. Make sure you advertise early and have change.
There's always a car wash or a bake sale.

Find a particular food that your part of the country likes and sell tickets and make the best food you can.
We do Gumbo here. My hubby is Cajun and we cook the best Gumbo in the world. $5.00 gets you a bowl of gumbo on rice, and potato salad. We sold over 5500 tickets last year and the money goes to the church.

Get local business owners in your church to donate free baskets of goodies. Fruit, makeup, spa stuff, hardware tools, books or gift certs to raffle off.

sell mirco fiber towels.
Buy them in Bulk for less than $2.50 ea and resell for $5 or $6 ea
They will individually package each one for you if you let them know it is for a fundraiser.
We packaged ours 2 per package and sold for $10...
You can sell more for less effort this way.
They will mail you a sample if youask them to.
So you can actually see what you will selling

Hey, another idea, if your short of boobs, ask the local hooters to help out....offer Free Luch for the truckers if they pay $30 to have their trucks washed by hooters girls...
